If thats not the issue it may not be auto mounting.
Do the drives show up in Partition Manager?
Also in Desktop mode, there are setting for external drives; auto mounting, ect.
In UEFI find the settings for the USB mode and try changing it from DRD to xHCI

Isn't the XHCI a beta update? Valve has been slow pushing out stable updates.
You have to format the drive with GPT Partition instead MBR.
In my case my external SSD was not recognized (Crucial X9). After installing Windows with Rufus (GPT with UEFI without CSM), my drive was recognized. Maybe this is also important for internal SSD drives.
