Fried motherboard

My steam deck wasnt working upon arrival so i opened it to trouble shoot. The motherboard has a short. Will valve help since i opened it?

if you just opened the back and didnt mod the mobo or anything, yeah. But how do you know its shorted?

The battery charge light doesnt even come on when i plug it in. Sounds motherboard issue to me

If it were a bad batterybwouldnt the light atleast come on?

I had the same symptoms - no light, no screen, no nothing. Gave the impression of being a total power supply failure. But the following suggestion from support resolved it:

try the following steps to reset your unit's firmware and BIOS, this may help with some issues that can cause powering on or boot issues:

• Ensure the device is fully powered down by holding the power button for 10 seconds or if possible select shutdown from the Power menu.
  
• Once the device is shutdown, hold down both the volume - button and the "..." button, then press the power button once. Then you can release all the buttons.
  
• You will hear a chime and then the white LED light will begin to blink (it may take 5 or more seconds before the blinking begins), which confirms this process is working.

Note: This process may take 1-2 minutes to start the unit up again during which the display will remain black.

same like my steamdeck, motherboard shorted, i dont do anything or mod too.
