LCD vs. OLED charge time?
I'm looking at buying one of them and the increased battery life is one of the selling points of OLED to me. But does OLED also take longer to recharge?

I got Asus, more powerful and stable, Steam deck is full of problems from what I read here on the forum.

Steam Deck
LCD version
40W battery; 2-8 hours of gameplay (depending on content)
45W power supply

Oled
50W battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (depending on content)
45W power supply

The Oled battery is larger between the two versions, but the charger is identical, so you will take more to charge the Oled version.

That's what I wanted to know, thanks.

While the OLED has 25% bigger battery, I don't think it charges 25% slower. On the LCD it takes about 2.5h to do 0-100, and 1.25h is for 65-70%, then charging slows down. So on OLED, more energy will reach the battery in the fast phase.

The OLED model actually charges faster than the LCD model.

https://www.steamdeck.com/en/oled
"Improved battery chemistry for faster charging, from 20% to 80% in as little as 45 minutes"

Good to know! tbf though, i didnt explicitly pay attention to it yet as the new battery life times im getting in some of these games hardly got me to fully recharge more than 3 or 4 times probably, and those times i wasnt exactly timing the charge or anything haha.

do any of you have a USB monitoring device like the FNB58 or similar that could record the entire charging cycle? The LCD deck goes from 20W at 0 to 22W at 1.25h linearly, and then drops down to a parabola-like curve to zero at 2.5-2.6h.

Why, is it forbidden to mention just because it is a forum belonging to Valve? Steam deck is full of problems, there's no denying it, the only ridiculous person here is you.

quote me where i said its not allowed, i said its comedic to point out threads of people having issues with it, in the forum of said device.

and it sure as hell is "full of problems" just because theres some hundred threads about it, meanwhile thousands if not tens of thousands of people are using it with no issues at all and never visit here once.

if it were full of problems there should be just a tiiiiny bit more threads dont you think? :D

and it also was comedic because he mentioned something completely unrelated to ops question, just for the sake of it :D and while he did it, he wasnt even truthfull either with that satement. but thats enough rambling about, ops question was already answered, so theres no need to keep this going in circles anyways =)

but like i said earlier, sensless troll, and sensless talk in circles =) enjoy your asus and day :')

I've only seen one test from GamingOnLinux, according to him charge speed from 10% to 90% was 1 hour faster on OLED in sleep mode

Ive had my OLED for about 9 months now and only now am I seeing charging issues. I plugged it in to charge last evening, woke up at 5am and realised I had left it in charging. Well, I went down stairs and checked the OLED and it was only at 68% after nearly 10 hours. Checked reddit forums and found this fix that helped me.

Press and hold - (minus) VOL and '...' bottom right of Deck. After a few seconds your LED will flash rapidly. I think it resets the CMOS in the deck. Here's the original post I got it from (its at the top of the post). Even after 10 mins or so the charging shot up like normal. Hope this helps.
