SD LE Case is disappointing.

I am kind of bummed about the horrendous state of the OLED LE case, it is a significant downgrade compared to the other cases. I use killswitch wrap that fits in other cases but not in the LE case, the inside has a removable sleeve which is such a poor design and quality. The print graphic on the inside makes it feel very cheap, Valve should have stuck with single plain color like the deep orange so it would match. The Velcro lip over the zipper is a nuisance to deal with when you want to open or close the case...what is its purpose anyways.

For LE SD, I was expecting something nicely tailored, sturdy and good quality. This is a major let down.

Agreed....I mean its great - but its so small.

Likely will be investing in a hard case or something.

I'll second that I do not understand the purpose of the Velcro lip over the zipper.

I also can't seem to figure out how to neatly fit the charger in the charger storage pocket.

I feel the way about the LE case. I dislike the black premium logo on the front. The exterior velcro strap annoyed me when I had to put my SD away at night before bed, half asleep. The interior is cool but too busy for my taste and looks blurry. Slimmer case doesn’t feel as secure as the tomtoc SD slim case.

Besides the case, I’m a bit sad we didn’t get a LE only Steam profile bonus.

Edit: I was hoping a new LE only Steam profile bonus different from the LCD bonus.

Yes, I also was expecting the LE to have a different exclusive profile and start up. Since both 1TB and 1TB LE say exclusive, I thought they were both exclusive to one another.

When I was waiting for my original Steam Deck to arrive around November 2022 I spent way too much time looking up every bit of info I could about it. One thing I say referenced multiple times was people would grab their case with the deck it in, not realizing it wasn't zippered, and dropping / launching the deck out. I'm pretty sure people were even making some 3D printed thing to work as a latch inside the case for that reason.

I'm betting it's to counteract that. Or maybe just an external connection of the outer shell and not just the... inner of the outer shell and the outer of the inner shell. Or to have the zipper under it to not rub / scrape against other stuff?

They should of added a screen protector velcro padding inside, like most generic third party cases do. I miss the long ribbon that helped me grab the device from the inside of the case. The improvement is they moved the exterior handle.

The Velcro strap is there so you don't have to zip up your case every time you use it and it also can be put into position over the zippers to prevent it from opening if you actually put your Deck in a bag or travel with it. And as @DJDeeJay said it's to prevent it from accidentally being opened if you grabbed the case while it was unzippered. Since it seems the vast majority of people just sit at home with it I guess these "issues" will pop up.

I think the issue here is those of us who spent "extra" for a "Limited Edition" have expectations that it should be "Better"

Even for me - as generally average as my expectations are maintained - I have trouble saying this is worth it.

Id expect better to be honest.

You are acting as if the store page didn't say anything about what the case was. There were plenty of reviews before this came out that showed what the case was and wasn't. Your "expectations" don't make sense when you can see exactly what it is before purchase. It would make more sense if you were shown something that wasn't actually there.

There’s a difference however from watching a video about items vs actually having it on your own hands and eyes to see how it looks and it works. Then there’s how the functionality is for each individual consumer.

This goes for the expectations we all had for the SD in general, some good while others bad.

We’re humans, we find things to complain about.

The store page didn't say much at all actually.
And I don't watch reviews from scrubby kids who make money on clicks either.
I make my own conclusions.

And you don't see me screaming and demanding a refund - only that its a disappointment.

Frankly I don't care - the case is too small and insufficient to protect imho - I can do better.

Expectations - I expected something extra special - a reasonable case - with space for everything inside (Steam Deck/Power Adapter/maybe something more)
Instead it looks like it would carry the SteamDeck - Power Adapter is outside? (wut?) - and barely any room for other things.

So does it meet requisites for a case? Yes
Is it worthy of the extra money?
No.

Does it feel special to make you feel like you got a "Limited Edition" ? Not really no.

Is it worthy of me demanding a refund?

This isn't really a complaint - more like general feedback.
A complaint these days would be like the childish kids who scream "Early Access is a rip off I want my money back"

I got what I paid for - yes.
But they could do better - that much is clear.
The main core purchase was for the steam deck - the case is just the fluff.

But frankly - for the money - id expect better - and I'm not alone in that sentiment.
That's all I'm saying.
No - not going to yell at Valve - they got better things to do - hopefully they ARE listening however.

Nothing unreasonable - nothing childish.
Just saying - well... this is OK - not GREAT....not really that GOOD...just...OK.
