Archive Games
Steam game downloads are significantly smaller than the installed game. Would it be possible to store just the "zipped" download to "unzip"(install) later. Or to "archive" a game by reducing it to just your save files + the download file.

Iam pretty sure that steam enables you to "backup game data" or something similiar worded in the properties menu of each game.

But zipped....i dont think so.

Well the idea was to be able to compress games so they take up less space, without having to download the game again. So if you happen to be without internet, you would be able to shift around some storage space

The Steam Backup feature does compress games as far as I know, I'm not sure how much and it's not the same as the download format (used to be the same as the format they used on discs but they broke that with the last update) but it could be an option.
Except I'm pretty sure you can't restore them offline because Steam would want to check for updates.
You can always just zip games up yourself at a high level of compression.
