Did the dead pixel test?
You can google for a pixel tester and it will go full screen and you can cycle between all the different colors and you can look to see if you have a dead pixel or not. If you don't notice any in normal gameplay then you may want to go with the "ignorance is bliss" and just play it. I only ran the test originally because I saw one while playing a game then ran the test and found another one.

Running it as soon as I get my LE tomorrow
I shall check mine tomorrow too. Ty
As soon as I got it I installed Firefox and ran the dead pixel test. Instead of 3 dead pixels in the center of the screen, there are 2 "magenta" stuck pixel on the top left corner and bottom of the screen. It is only visible on light, white, and green backgrounds. It's completely invisible on dark blue, black, and all other backgrounds. I'm hopeful that "they get better dramatically over time with use" like Valve said but I'm not optimistic.
I might as well just keep this unit for now since it's obvious they haven't fixed the issue yet. I'll just swap the screen with the IFixit if it bothers me much and don't want to roll the dice again. Or doing an RMA later because it's obvious it's still a big problem. Don't wanna get a Samsung Panel either because of the grainy mura issues they have.
That really sucks and I hate that they seem to just let this go through and then depend on people to just constantly swap them to get a good unit. Honestly I am kind of worried that mine might develop dead pixels later on down the line but who know. Overall this launch has had more issues than it should have given the prices and time to get things right. They just wanted this out before the holiday shopping season.
WiFi connection issues, headphone jack static, and OLED dead pixels is a pretty big misstep.
Thx, the only net benefit from this RMA is that there is one less dead pixel, and they are in slightly less annoying positions during gameplay. They are also pink/magenta, which a lot of online sources say "A stuck pixel will appear in any of the colors that its three subpixels (red, green and blue) can form (good ol’ RGB and cyan, magenta and yellow), depending on their functionality and brightness." and from ChatGPT "Yes, a magenta pixel on your screen typically indicates a stuck pixel, not a dead one. Magenta is created when the red and blue subpixels are illuminated while the green subpixel is not. In your case, if you're seeing a magenta pixel, it means:
The Red Subpixel is on.
The Blue Subpixel is on.
The Green Subpixel is off or not functioning properly."
so I'm just hopeful it "improves dramatically over time" like Valve also states. I don't wanna play panel lottery again or getting a panel with Mura. I have a dead pixel on my new IPS LG monitor but that one is far less noticeable as it's a 32 inch screen lol
That lotto is a pita! I have a feeling ifixit will be Samsung panels for replacements in the near future. Honestly, as much as I hate the BoE lcd on my OG steam deck, I’m quite happy with the BoE on my oled.
If it makes you feel better, my screen has been flawless, the stuck pixel hasn’t made a comeback at all! I play on my oled everyday since I received it November 24 for 5-8 hours nonstop each session, all in handheld mode.
good to hear for ya, not rolling the dice on another RMA until they fix their issues. hopefully by the time replacement screens are available, the stuck pixel will either be gone or I won't notice XD
No dead pixels, no gross mura effect, good feeling buttons, and all my headphones don’t have a buzz.
It tool awhile, but it was worth the RMA. Completely satisfied now. Thanks for convincing me not to settle and for the discussion. Happy holidays!
No problem glad you got something that you are happy with!
