Update 3.5.7 is worst
The 3.5.7 update is the worst, all games have a considerable drop in fps, it has a reduction in performance. Non-demanding games that were going to be at 60 stable fps are now between 40 and 50 with increases to 60, which for me does not make sense because they were already stable 60fps before, I suppose this is so that the battery drains less quickly but no It's worth it if I kill the quality of the game.

That's kind of shocking that they wouldn't add this as an optional setting for those who prefer more battery life?

I don't understand what happened, but even though I'm connected and playing on the TV there are crashes that didn't exist in the previous update, at the moment I don't like playing like that...

The GPU bug has been reported for almost a week since 3.5.5 released last week, while Valve didn't deny the existence of the bug, they, IMO, have downplayed the severity of it.

So far no official announcement mentioning the bug, recommending hold off updating, nor providing a path for those affected to return to 3.4.11, not only they rushed the release of 3.5, they seems reluctant admitting the mistake or letting folks to back to the stable build they once were, I am unable to play some of the demanding games for nearly a week with no remedy / temporary solution, that is not good I'd say...

I'm currently playing CP2077 and since Steam OS 3.5.5 the FPS have dropped significantly :(. With my settings I always had 30 FPS and in a few places 25 FPS. Now the FPS constantly goes down to 22 FPS, sometimes even to 19 FPS.

This is about the GPU bug right? Does manually setting the gpu speed not work for you?

Manually setting the GPU is a partial mitigation for now, but for some games that go heavy on both CPU and GPU, there may be different occasions which players need to adjust the GPU speed to release some headroom for the CPU, which is inconvenient and also inefficient in power usage as the GPU may run at (way) higher frequency than it actually needs to be, negatively impacting the battery endurance, so people still need a fix, or at least a return ticket to 3.4.X branch while the investigation take place.

3.5.5 was the issue for me, 3.5.7 works fine for me

I was playing civ 6 on 3.5 preview and all was good, after the stable release I noticed significant frame drops

They didn't downplay the severity of it.... They did say the bug exist. The overlay might be a symptom of a larger issue. The switching itself isn't the bug but a symptom. They are asking whether their fix works and the scope.

To your credit and Alecslee, you guys did contribute interesting enough data point where I will probably hate this bug and Linus T might rant a bit. I do not want to be right at all. I hope Valve believe this bug is different from what I am thinking.

This comment is a thank you for your efforts.

Thank you for your thank you. Having said that, IMO Valve didn't put enough emphasis in their announcement regarding the performance bug under investigation, they merely mentioned "a temporary workaround for a performance problem" in the 3.5.7 patch, without warning people the potential performance loss in the latest 3.5.X "stable" channel, they could have made more folks aware of it, and make an informed decision, but they didn't, and this is MY BIGGEST RANT so far, not because a major bug slip through to the stable, but because they didn't try their best to warn people about the impact of the bug, especially when in some case (such as mine) that could be an one-way ticket.

I am sympathetic with Valve because I have a faint idea about the bug itself. This bug will make operating system engineers rant a ton. I believe Microsoft probably deal with this bug every new Windows release.

I'm on 3.5.7 and in the last few days I've been having issues even getting things to run. Can play any game for about 5mins before it freezes, crashes and goes back to the boot up screen. Have tried the usual fixes for crashes including a full factory reset but still happens. Anyone getting similar or have any fixes I've not thought of?

Tried everything as well, sometimes mine even reboot right after the game launches lol. Totally unplayble atm

Still on 3.4 waiting for a true stable 3.5+ to be out.
