Steam Deck

Steam Deck

EA & Ubisoft
Hi Steam!

I just want to suggest an option that can make players' lives easier. Is it possible to coordinate with Ubisoft and EA games and all other platforms that have separate launchers to just have an option in Steam to connect accounts all at once? If a game runs, it would just check Steam account for any linked Ubisoft or EA games account so that users don't need to log in every now and then. It would make life easier and it would clear Ubisoft and EA games' name from all the hate they get from players hating over their separate launchers. I'm praying and hoping this is possible, it's such a hassle when Steam Deck sometimes freezes while opening the separate launcher of EA or Ubisoft.

Valve already allows 3rd parties to link of their accounts. For example, you can (and should) link your EA account to Steam. It allows for SSO when launching an EA title from inside of Steam.

That being said, there are reasons these companies want their own launchers. It's not that this is the only way they can deliver games, this is purposely chosen by these publishers so it's unlikely to change anytime soon.

I would appreciate having the option to link my EA or Ubisoft accounts directly within the Steam launcher on a per-account basis. This integration could be included in the Steam settings, allowing for seamless access to linked accounts when opening a game. This would eliminate the need for repetitive re-logins and 2FA code requests. Additionally, this feature would be beneficial in offline mode, as the linked accounts would already be associated with the Steam launcher. It could check for linked accounts even when offline, unless you sign out of your Steam account.

The problem is each game has it's own launcher install in its own wine folder so theres no way for the launcher to remember the login as it thinks its a new PC for each game.

The thing is what you're asking for is never going to happen. They only have their own platforms because they want you to use them instead of Steam, they want to make the Steam experience as bad as possible while still getting our money to incentivize direct purchases.

That's sad to hear. We'll never experience a smooth experience like in consoles.
