The SD OLED connects just fine to the modem/router that my ISP provided on both 2,4GHz and 5GHz and to my Phone if I create an access point.
So... I don't think this is a hardware malfunction which is good news to some extent.
EDIT: using a 6GHz band access point on my phone the SD OLED does connect just fine as well.
EDIT 2: typing this on the SD OLED as somehow the connection started working?
In theory you should be able to but I'd contact your service provider to answer that question. they are able to Simlock devices and they can require hardware registration on their networks.
Also, it is probably not something I'd recommend as your current router doesn't appear to be WiFi 6 (802.11ax) with 160MHz channel width; thus it is likely we have a few different similar issues with WiFi compatibility going on. Both yours and Maraxus' routers are like an enigma for documentation, however, from the little bits I've been able to find from network device review sites they do also both appear to be Broadcom chipsets.
You are about the 5th person I've seen who is having similar issues to the OP and do not have a WiFi 6 device with 5GHz 160MHz channel width support. I'm still waiting on my Steam Deck OLED LE so unfortunately I can't do much in the way of practical testing yet.
Workaround 1)
- Disable AX
- Disable Smart Connect
--- Restarted Router
- Enabled a Guest Network ONLY 2.4GHz (I imagine it is pulling the AX disabled from the main Wireless settings)
-Set Security to - WPA-Personal[TKIP] + WPA2-Personal[AES] (I'm going to change that on the next restart)
--- Restarted Steam Deck
- Attempted to connect to Guest network ( Failed on password, but I noticed the network icon looked connected)
-The Steam Deck was offline...
***DO NOT Re-enter Password - Just back out and Restart from the Power Menu (Hold down Power for a few seconds)
--- Restart Steam Deck
-Great success (at least getting on the guest network for the NIghthawk)
Disabling AX and/or 160mhz has no effect. Oddly enough, if I use a wired connection via the dock and then load into desktop mode, it usually connects to the 5ghz network. It's not 100%, but it's fairly repeatble. However, if I put the Deck to sleep, it won't reconnect on wake-up.
Edit: Now it doesnt work. It stayed connected for a few hours and allowed me to download all my games but its crapping out again now.
