UPS Shipment Issues (solved)
Looks like I fell into the same boat as others before me with Steam Decks marked as "delivered" (with UPS) and yet no where to be found! I placed an order for the new OLED model and just a few days later it was marked as "delivered" (Saturday of last week 11/18/23). I'm not going into super detail about the BS process I had to go through so far with UPS, so I will bullet point what I did and what's been done at UPS here in Southern CA.

-Deck marked as delivered. Not there.

-*Surprise Pikachu Face*

-Call UPS Customer Service the next day. Robot Answers. Get a person finally.

-1st person said they will ask investigations and have them call me back. Nobody calls me back. I tried to file claim. I cannot for some reason.

-Call again the day after. Same story. Explained what happened to new person. They state investigations will call me back by end of the day. They did not.

-Call again today and was more firm that I talk to a manager and explain what's going on. Redirects call to investigations. They finally put in a case for me because the other 2 workers didn't for some reason... gives me a case number and his number to refer back to him. Said there would be a follow up call in 1-3 hours. 4 hours later no call.

-Call again later today. Ask for manager. Explain what's going on. They contact warehouse. Warehouse cannot offer information because of Valve or some reason? Whole call takes over an hour of back and forth. Manger gives me a claims number to call. Nobody picks up phone at claims. *sad pepe*

-I put in a ticket with Steam support and am hoping for the best.

The fact that UPS gave me a run-around without context to what's going on or just not being transparent surprised me as I never had a problem with them before. So, if you order a Deck and it's marked as "delivered" and doesn't show up the next day — I recommend putting a ticket in with Steam and with your delivery company. It is NOT okay for items to be marked as delivered when it's not there because like others before me, I assumed it was swiped and caused unnecessary anxiety. The most likely case scenario is UPS lost my Deck or it's backlogged somewhere.

First off, sorry this happened to you and hope you can get it resolved asap!

Did your UPS tracking have proof of delivery with photo?

For those still waiting on their orders, signing up for UPS My Choice gives text and app alerts ahead of time from my experiences.

Yes they did without a photo. It was marked as delivered at Met Customer. Nobody was home. My neighbors stated that no UPS trucks came at all.

FWIW, it has happened when a delivery person accidentally marked something delivered prematurely and it gets delivered the following day. I have actually had that happen a few times.

If there is no proof of delivery photo then it most likely is a spoof delivery update. UPS in the past few months now require photo upon delivery.

Please do keep us posted if and when you get your order sorted as this is helpful information should it happen to someone else. Crossing my fingers your deck makes it home to you sooner rather than later.

Stream Support has gotten back to me and stated they would be sending out another deck. They stated that UPS lost the package, but that's suspicious to me and I think what likely happened was someone in the warehouse simply stole it for themselves or scalping.

Now I’m even more nervous for not one but two oled delivery tomorrow 😭

Figured the new UPS photo system would help but this is nerve racking as seasonal employees will care far less. Doesn’t help Valve packaged these with their logo and Valve Corporation right on the shipping label.

Thanks for keeping us posted! Glad Valve made things right for you. I’m a little more prepared for UPS to disappoint me and my spouse tomorrow, we already hate the sloppy drivers they send out.

This is what I was afraid of too when I saw that UPS would handle the shipment. I was waiting for them when they showed up that day to make sure that it didn't happen to me. Just a few days before, I have ordered something and they left it in front of a neighbors door several places away. I have also had what you had in the past where it was marked as delivered, but it never showed up.

I have no idea why Steam thought it was a good idea to use UPS, literally the worst possible option they could have picked. The videos online of how UPS drivers treat deliveries alone should have been enough evidence for them to use a different carrier.

File a ticket with Steam support ASAP, because UPS will NOT help. They will just keep stalling and hoping that you will eventually get fed up and stop bothering them.

Welcome to the club, UPS is overpaid and sucks hard, but not as hard as FedEx... They are the absolute worst. Had nothing but bad experiences with them. Doesn't help that the holiday season is here so everyone is employing seasonal drivers.

If valve doesn't honor it, at least you have your credit card company purchase insurance... Don't forget about that, most major cc companies have purchase protection.

The fact they didn't require a signature is proof enough that Valve is taking too many gambles with UPS in terms of shipping/liability.

With no signature requirement - your going to have a tough fight proving anything.

Mine arrived very early today - did't even see the UPS Truck when it dropped it off - no signature no nothing.

Guess I was the lucky one.

I just ordered a 3rd party dock (ivoler brand), just so that I would not have to deal with UPS again.

It came in today! Holy moly, everyone. I'm glad I got it. They need to put the box in a shipping bag or it's own indiscriminate (blank) box. The box they send it in blatantly shows it's a Steam Deck lol. Good luck to everyone else. Keep an eye on your shipping updates!

Have fun, glad it made it home! 🥳

And yes, Valve is irresponsible with their packaging, let alone around holiday seasons.
