It's a nice upgrade for the most part (aside from trackpads which feels incredibly off, better haptics and click though), but for 300-350€ after selling LCD it's clear that they only really focused on new owners
The real problem I have with Valve, however, is they rushed the 3.5 Steam OS release to make it ship with OLED deck. The "Stable" channel is anything but stable after they push 3.5 to the stable, the performance regression and other bugs reported are just unthinkable on the stable release.... and many bugs still persist after more than 3 weeks, I doubt they will get those issues sorted out before Christmas holiday....
There are talks about p2p support to a few realtek chipsets. I believe it will take a few years unless people test mainline kernels. Miracast may be possible on the steam deck one day.
FWIW, there are some positives and negatives of the OLED at this point in time. It may be a good idea to wait it out a bit. For example, depending on your home network, the OLED updated wifi may not connect to it. HDR is still hit or miss. Some games don't detect the OLED Deck is capable of supporting HDR. I'm confident Valve will address these issues, but it's going to take some time.
That being said, I currently have both. If you mainly use your Deck in Game Mode without external gamepads, the OLED upgrade is worth it. I don't think it's worth it for those who mainly use it docked or with a TV. In Game Mode using it as a true handheld, the differences are noticeable and welcome (even without the LE version).
If you're buying your 1st SD and genuinely have money to burn: Buy the OLED
If you're on a budget or want to buy a Steam Deck at a justifiable price: Buy the LCD model.
The OLED is nice, but paying twice as much for it wasn't worth it, especially when performance is very similar and not everything is tailored to look nice on OLED (unlike the Vita).
