Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Just Bought a Steam Deck and OLED was just announced
I wanted to see if there was a way for me to upgrade my Steam Deck to the new OLED model. Literally JUST purchased my Deck (on the 27th) and is pretty upsetting to hear that the new model is the exact same price I paid for my 512GB when the new one has an OLED screen as well as 1TB storage. Please can anyone help??

I reeeally wish we could trade our decks in, if even for a discount.

You could always sell it. Create your own discount.

If you just bought it, contact Valve for a refund as you should still be (just) in the window:

What? You expected Valve to announce it while they were still producing and selling the old one? :D

Anyone feeling salty with the older LED model? since its gonna be abandoned by steam in terms of no more LED versions, this will annihilate the resale value

Already used prices have been obliterated

Surely everyone will want the better OLED model

I'm so glad I sold my LED version

I'm cool with my deck, cause I'm fortunate to haven't had any issues ever. That said, I also am not interested in OLED, unless it's for watching movies, and I don't use the deck for that.

Contact support thats what I did. They will either have you return for full refund to order new one. OR give a partial refund to match the new discounted price.

I'm in the same boat but very close to the return deadline. Mind if I ask which category did you submit your request under? "charged the wrong amount"?

I'm kind of in the same boat but I bought mine during the Autumn sale after waiting to actually buy one. If I had known about the OLED version then I would have just waited some more to get the 512gb OLED instead of being stuck with 512gb LCD which is both $500. I actually wanted something like the OLED version rather than the LCD one because of the improved battery. Is there anything that can be done for people in my situation?

i just purchased my self the steam deck 512gb LCD version and a day later i discovered the LCD version was coming out but honestly yes the LCD screen is amazing but our eyes will adjust to the original steam deck same as the LCD version and you wont even release the difference i refuse to buy the LCD version or trade it in or cancel my order as eventually the LCD will not be as talked about lets face it last year the original steam deck was the ♥♥♥♥ and nobody complained so unless you REALLY want the LCD version don't bother wasting your time

Why are you calling both the old and the new one, "the LCD"? This is just confusing to read. I agree with you though, for people who already own the original model, it's not worth worrying about the OLED model.

It's not being abandoned, the 256GB original will continue to be sold alongside the OLED model as the new $400 option. Valve will continue supporting all the Steam Decks with SteamOS updates. The performance target is the same with both models and that is what they want, a single spec for developers to target as a modern baseline.
