Why are you calling both the old and the new one, "the LCD"? This is just confusing to read. I agree with you though, for people who already own the original model, it's not worth worrying about the OLED model.
It's not being abandoned, the 256GB original will continue to be sold alongside the OLED model as the new $400 option. Valve will continue supporting all the Steam Decks with SteamOS updates. The performance target is the same with both models and that is what they want, a single spec for developers to target as a modern baseline.
