no but it did kill all of your batteries
Windows allow to get Windows and not registering it. Yeha you get a crap notice tho.
Steam/VALVE never made Steam machines. And if they did, it would be pointless with Steam Deck and remote play. The market isn't there, there's already bunch of companies offering already made machines anyway.
Using windows on an handheld feel hackintosh already, it wasn't made for a handheld.
It's not the "real thing" because it is shipped with it.
Especially if you use it as handheld without touchpad, Windows OS is a mess for that.
Those things eat battery life like crazy, also running Windows on a handheld? Just no
Steam Deck offers the best price to performance, has the best community support of any handheld and has Valve directly backing and supporting it.
These people keep forgetting that it's not necessarily the most raw performant console that wins.
Remember the gamegear? Member the Nintendo DS? Member the Wii and the Switch?
Steam Deck beats their competitors time and time again, both in sales numbers and interactivity with the platform.
At least little Lenovo and ASUS try to offer some competition so steam has to stay on it's toes.
Switch punches way way over its weight class with games like Zelda TOTK.
Similar to SteamDeck, its not just about the hardware but the software and how everything works together + continued support is what i love about the SteamDeck. I just bought the OLED (have a regular too).
You will never see the other brands put so much effort making the OS this good and making sure games run smoothly.
I see already next "gen" coming out from one of them (dont have time to keep up hehe).
Its one thing being a gaming focused company making a device like SteamDeck and another being a hardware company and make new devices every 6 month ....
Look at Switch 5-6 years on the market and still sells like hot potato. Why? All about the games and support from Nintendo.
I see Valve doing the same. I don't buy usually allot of PC games. More of a console gamer but now i buy more on PC and use Steam for both handheld + gaming on TV with the deck.
The SteamOS is what makes the difference for me. Also the agronomic and everything with the steamdeck is so well thought through.
The steam deck feels nicer in the hand, and all the buttons and sticks are in better placement as well. If comfort is your number 1 than the deck easily wins.
Deck has better D-pad. The legion go has a clicky D-pad where the deck uses the rubber contacts so it feels nicer and makes no noise.
Back buttons feel the same on both as well as the triggers and bumpers
Legions go’s screen destroys the deck. It’s much more vibrant and crisp. (LCD model)
Haven’t tested Wi-Fi but Ethernet caps at 125mb/s and the Go uses all of it during downloads.
Steam deck has slightly better analog. I like how the decks is firmer. The Go has slightly weaker tension on the Analog so they feel softer.
The Go’s fan would probably annoy most of you. That thing can be loud but the removed a lot more air than the deck.
The carry case is exactly the same. I bet it comes from the same company that valve uses. It’s literally the same.
I’m not a fan of windows when used just for gaming. I’d rather SteamOS on this honestly.
Track pad SUCKS. It’s small and just doesn’t feel good to use. It does the job but the deck easily wins. I love the decks track pads.
So I’m my opinion of you want raw power with the option of a full pc the legion go is the better choice. I set it up so it looks and runs like steamOS. It was a pain to get everything updated and get big picture mode working seamlessly like the deck.
While not as comfy as the deck, your hands fit in the right spots, just wish it was more rounded.
If you want ease of use, comfortable play, and overall a better steam experience than the deck easily wins. It’s feels so good in the hand, way better than any other controller I’ve used. The screen is good enough and it still plays AAA games.
Forgot the mention….the sound on the Go was AWFUL they way it was configured. Thankfully there is an EQ and now it sounds a whole lot better. Deck wins tho because of speaker placement. They sound about the same otherwise once fixed. Who the hell thought top firing speakers was a good idea? Lenovo did
Anyways both have pros and cons. Still love my deck and will use it for the less demanding games and games that play better with mouse.
Legion has horrible battery when you play it at 15W and perform worse.
Of course if you compare it to the LCD deck, you will like it but the OLED deck is much better!
OLED Deck is exactly the same performance wise as LCD. The OLED screen isnt nearly enough to make me want it.
I don’t use them on battery so I forgot to include it. I always use them both plugged in at all times.
Either way both are good for gaming
