Steam Deck

Did the Lenovo Legion go just kill the steam deck?
Yeah, this thing is a beast. 97% DCI-P3 color gamut, 144hz and a whopping QHD + resolution... :O Detachable sides, a huge screen and more importantly: Magnetic Hall sticks.

It's also worth to note that it isn't locked down behind a restrictive OS (such as bottleneckOS a.k.a. steamOS).

Thank you Valve for opening the desktop handheld market, and thank you Lenovo for developing a far better product.

Sure, but why do you have more input lag with 144hz frames, than on 60hz frames? That's a wild claim.

Simple. Miss a vblank. You just half your fps. Boom you are already at 72hz. Add in something like network, controller, or random scheduling. You are already slower with stable 60 hz with advanced techniques.

Like I said, reducing input lag requires you to control variables. Although LInux may stink now, the platform has lots of potentials. Valve do not need permission from Microsoft to implement cool stuff. Look at all the shader compiler on AMD cards. Linux freedoms allows it. It might be shocking, but you enter a community who invest in platforms for once.

It's safe to assume when you claim something like 60 hz is good enough in late 2023 you are clearly not going with the times.
It depends on what games you play. You fail to realize this. Majority of games that I play I don't need high refresh rates. Also don't put words in my mouth I never said that 60hz is good enough for everyone in late 2023.

Do you have any proof that the legion go has more input lag with 144hz frames compared to 60hz frames? Do you have any proof that the legion go has more input lag than the steam deck? Otherwise stop making up random claims with your extremely generic assumptions.

I do not care. Input lag has to measure by a game by game basis. You underestimate the amount of work needed to make a gaming paradise platform.

I do not care about generic assumptions. I want hard measurements. The unfortunately thing is that you need a community to give a damn to give accurate measurements. You do not care. Why would I care about your suggestion when I am measuring a wrong value.

Interesting.

Wonder why they are doing it as a limited edition though.

I think that only one model is limited Edition (1Tb model) and rest models, 256, 512 and 1Tb are available when those are available.
so...
One 1Tb limited and one 1Tb normal model.

Ah, I see it now.

Huh, I may get one down the line. Unless they start selling the OLED screens to iFixit.

New OLED screen won't be compatible with the old system. It's almost a whole overhaul, with a new more efficient SOC, bigger battery, bigger fan and improved thermals, better wifi, and improved haptics.

Naw, you should pitty the OP...... The OP spend all this time and thinking things will become better when things comes his way.....

When the opposite happens, things becomes much better than whatever he imagines.
