up to this day, i do not understand how some people can push their Steam Decks to 80°C.

My SD never get above 70°C and that is during the maximum load

I played with my TDP settings and now for intense games I don't need to use the jsaux fan anymore. I routinely hit 83c with graphics intensive games, but with TDP settings I'm seeing massive decrease in heat to around 71c.

Go install ark survival and come tell us again how your deck handles it.

I routinely hit 80c but I always play uncapped frame rates with as much graphical settings I can get away with to achieve near 60 fps.

So either you live in Siberia or only play far less demanding games.

This is the reason I've installed the JSAUX auxiliary fan on the back of the Deck. You can put your hands above it and feel the heat being pulled out of the Deck's interior.

I'm not a JSAUX shill - I've no relation to the company - but I've found several of their Deck add-ons to be well thought out, well designed, and we'll made. Their Auxiliary Fan was one such item.

Cool electronics run better and last longer.

you are right, however the steam deck will be recycled for being obsolete sooner than it will die from heat.

AMD doesn't seem to list Van Gogh in any list or on their website but typically newer AMD APU's have a Tjmax of 100°C

I wouldn't start freaking out until you're seeing low to mid 90's

the TJmax of Zen2 APUs is typically 105.

68°C btw

I do lock almost everything to 40Hz / 40 FPS so I guess that is the reason for better temps.
