wow, small print totally missed
you can use the steam deck offline just fine if you set the games to update when launched and turn the steam deck to offline mode.
however:
If a game requires online activation/keys on launch, offline mode will not work.
cloud saves can be a pain
if a game has an update queued, this will not work (hence, update on launch setting)
if you are connected to the internet but in offline mode, you still get certain (ie system) updates.
While it is kind of a pain to deal w updates, offline mode still works, for now.
I've never been able to find a fix for it, the best I can do is turn offline mode on before shutting it off and avoiding it turning off completely whenever possible.
