Microsd is read-only and almost completely undetectable

Problem: the microsd isn't detected by any means in gaming or desktop mode. With the preview 3.5 update it knows there is an sd connected but its labeled 16___ and upon trying to reformat it, it just says it failed (this only works in gaming mode, still undetectable in desktop mode.

Potential causes i noted:
* the brand supposedly has given other people a lot of problems before (Gigastone Gaming Plus), although ive only had the card for a month.
* it happened a bit after i switched to the preview 3.5 build for the first time, so that also could've caused it
* any other recent update that people say broke their microsd.
* the microsd could also just have bricked at on its own

Fixes i've tried:
* about a couple hours worth of konsole fixes that didnt work, it says the microsd is readonly too.
* uninserting then reinserting.
* switching os builds (stable, beta, and preview then updating).

At this point all I really want to know is can I safely try my new microsd before the stable 3.5 build is sent out without worrying my new microsd will brick. Any other info regarding the old sd is welcome too.

Force format in developers mode-you have to enable developers mode in SD Settings first..

It might work.

It just said "Starting" above a loading bar then stopped within about a second

Go back to SD Stable before you try your new SD Card... Then test it ( hopefully)... It might work..

If stable works with your sd card then by all means stay in stable. Untill 3.5 hits mainstream..

Have you tried testing formating the SD Card in your regular PC fat32 exfat4(last one I'm not sure of)?
Try formating the problem sd card on a main PC and then test and see if it really is bad...
If it is now you know if it is good now you know..
Then see if you can get your sd to recognize it in sd stable game mode preferably.

It seems to be, my windows laptop is too broken to even detect the new one with any program so i cant trust that one. Could i try kde partition manager in desktop mode? That one also didn't detect the old sd

I don't know much about sd desktop mode so I'm at a loss here.. Do research on Google and see if it can help you... Try several different phrases to get the max amount of hits for this problem..

Did you ever find a fix? I just got the same issue. Shows as 16___ only in game mode and won't show in desktop mode or KDE. This is a brand new card and PNY brand.

Unfortunately I never found a fix, however the SD card I was using at the time was supposedly a bad brand and ever since I chose a different brand for SD cards I haven't had a problem since. The faulty SD was gigastonegaming+ and the newer one is SanDisk
