Interesting. So they might do with cellular this time and up the performance? Would be nice. Where have you heard or seen these rumors? I would like to go over them myself. As well thank you for your input.
compete with other handhelds such as the legion go. If that's even possible...
Because of the deals that would need to happen with cellular companies. As well as a price increase with cellular.
Oh Jesus not this guy again. Go home SlowMango, We've been through this before. Who works with these companies and who is just a keyboard warrior with reddit medals of service on Steam forums? Exactly. Stop wasting peoples time with your inane hate of cellular capacity. Some people believe it or not like things that you do not. How you feel about it is irrelevant. If you don't like it then when it releases don't buy it. Simple. The more likely reason they won't release a second version is because Steam has not had the sales they would have liked. However seeing that the Steam Deck has been of somewhat a success they are going to want the product to be more desirable and flexible to the consumers especially the ones they didn't reach last time. Now this likely if I had to guess wouldn't be a possible release until after 2025. (Just a estimated guess no one knows anything really about a future model release date for a Deck 2).
Hell, Qualcomm, Intel, and Mediatek offer 'drop in' 5G M.2 modules now. Work out the SIM holder issue and make sure the M.2 port will recognize non SSD devices, and you can add 5G to many devices.
This is where the extra costs come in. They would also need to make sure it plays nicely with SteamOS.
Nobody here hates cellar capability in general. Every here hates the sacrifices you need to obtain it. There are only a few companies in the world who can sell cellular capabilities. All of us will need to deal with crappy modem software from Qualcomm. The modem is a security nightmare. The part isn't cheap either. In phones, it is the second largest cost right behind the screen.
I guess people never saw how tablets with cellular are always more expensive than ones with just wifi. The only time they are 'cheaper' is when you sign them to a specific provider.
There is no reasoning with him. He is right you are wrong and if you dare say otherwise you are out of your depth. I have gone over this all with him before in other threads multiple times and yet he insists this is the way despite my assuring him and sharing intimate knowledge about the industry. He is just all knowing I guess.
