Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Emulator
How to get started on the deck and how to get my playstation 1 games to work. I manage to copy the disc to my pc but when i open the files they've got a padlock on them. i've seen a lot of people using the deck as a emulator i want to know how to do it.

Unfortunately, unless you have a physical PS1 and dump the BIOS yourself I can't help you. All I can say is the file name of the BIOS is "SCPHXXXX.bin"

I transfered them from my NAS directly to the steam deck via the desktop mode.

You might also

-try to connect a external drive via usbc/ a usbc hub, not sure which file format is supported there

-download them directly to the deck via browser in desktop mode

the sd card has to be formatted on SD to work, not sure if your PC can read it afterwards without additional software.

I am running Linux on my PC i was going to try and get it to work there first before i tried on the deck so i don't mess it up but I'm not having much luck.

well you need an emulator, the rom/game that you want to emulate and most of the times a bios of the system you try to emulate. (in your case PS1)

at what point exactly you cant get it to work?

So this is where I'm at. I've got duck station installed I've copied my playstation 1 game but I'm having trouble in the emulator not recognising it and when i open the files they have padlocks on them is there some type of software i need to copy the disc on first.

Duckstation requires a PS1 BIOS. You might be missing that.

Don't install any programs claiming to provide you a PS1 BIOS. The file you need is SCPH1001.bin ONLY. It is 512 KB in size and has an MD5 hash of 924e392ed05558ffdb115408c263dccf
