Steam Deck broke my SD Card

Been using this Micro SD Card specifically for Steam Deck only.
While it's readable, it's not writable.
Any changes to the SD Card, will be undone after rebooting the Steam Deck in OS and in Gaming Mode.
Can't install/uninstall any games on SD Card on the Steam Deck in OS and in Gaming Mode.
Tried formatting the card in Gaming Mode, FAILED
Tried formatting the card in OS mode, FAILED
Tried formatting the card in SD Card Formatter v5, FAILED
Tried formatting the card in Easeus Partition Master, FAILED

Where did you get the card? These symptoms sound like a fake/bogus card.

SAN Disk Ultra 1tb.
Card was working fine for half a year. Was about to uninstall some games to free up space when i was hitting 2.x gb free space left.

While steam deck in both OS and Gaming mode shows it's uninstalled with no errors, restarting Steam Deck will show them appearing back.

Have you tried switching between SD Stable and SD Beta?? Or vice versa??

Try disk manager in windows, that's how I fixed mine

I've always stayed on Steam Deck Stable Branch, since i've read a lot of issues Steam Deck patches seems to create. Even in Stable branch.

By Deleting Partition, By Formatting it to ext4, fat, By doing a full format. All failed.

Windows Disk Manager did not work. Steam Deck OS Partition Manager did not work.

Where did you buy it from? Direct from vendor or Amazon? Amazon has a ton of fakes, I ordered mine direct from Samsung to avoid the headache.

I have the same problem. bought the same card from a vendor.
My sd card is getting crc errors in Windows so it might be dead.

Exact same problem here. Using Windows on my main PC and inserting the sd card into a reader doesn't even show it in disk management any more, it seems totally dead. Barely a month old card, 1TB Sandisk Extreme A2.

Edit: Had to run Rufus to be able to format my card and reimage the iso, of course this meant I lost the 800GB of stuff I had on there which is going to take a while.

Rufus was the thing that worked for me, the sd card wasn't being recognised anywhere else, it wasn't able to be selected in SteamOS, and wasn't recognised by windows, even to format it via default tools, it just couldn't detect anything at all in the drive. Booting Rufus and formating and reimaging the sd card that way was the only way I got it to work again. Of course, this meant I have lost all data, as will anyone else that has the same card, unfortunately. It's going to take me days to redownload and set everything up again. I could expect outlier issues like this to happen on the experimental build or beta at a stretch. But for the main build to have caused this is a big disappointment.

Give this tool utility a try OP if you haven't already. I'm in talks with Steam support currently, it'll help if you open a ticket too and submit any pictures and useful info to them, the more reports they receive, the easier it'll be for them to isolate the issue. Best of luck mate

When you say "Failed" do you get any output? any error messages when attempting to format the card? When in game mode what happens when you try to format the card?

Just saying something failed without anything contextual isn't really helpful in trying to troubleshoot an issue.

Rufus 4.3 couldn't detect the drive.
Logs:
Found USB 2.0 device 'Sony Card_R/W USB Device' (054C:04B1)
Device eliminated because it was detected as a Hard Drive (score 15 > 0)

Aomei Partition manager can still see it.
MS Partition manager can still see it.
Easeus Partition manager can still see it.
None of them are able to format the SD Card out of ext4.

When running rufus, did you select 'Show advanced drive properties' drop down menu and click 'list USB Hard Drives', then re scanning devices? My SD card USB reader wouldn't work until I selected that option.

Found it. In rufus
Error: Could not partition drive.

It opens up windows Format drive
Windows was unable to complete the format.

Apologies, I'm using Rufus 4.2.2074, installing a windows partition but it worked when I tested it with the Steam OS iso. I'll a link a screenshot. Windows by default wouldn't let me format so I used the option Rufus provided.
