Spring sound from right trigger
My steam deck is only 3 days old but the right trigger makes a sort of spring sound when it’s pressed down. It doesn’t really effect performance but it’s kinda annoying. From what I have read it should go away in about a week but after repeatedly pressing it (one of the given solutions) I have doubts. If anyone has or had this problem do you have any fixes?

I don‘t have this problem. Maybe there is some sort of little manufacturing issue for you causing the spring to hang a bit.

Has the sound gotten worse and has it effected performance?

Blow into it (not even joking). Solves it for most people for a few hours.

Yeah I’ve tried that, unfortunately didn’t work.

Hm. The next idea would be silicone spray. Sadly that can also make things worse so you sort of have to live with it.

my D Pad wont recognize all 8 directions. down left and down right wont function. Its just what it is with Valve controllers.

The Valve Index and the Steam Controller also have the same problems. Its "normal".

It's likely just the spring rubbing on the plastic. If it really bothers you, you could open it up and put some light grease on the spring which will reduce the noise of it rubbing on itself and the plastics. However, likely not worth the effort.

FWIW, while it's not 100% normal, it does happen with a lot of spring based products (not just the Steam Deck).

It hasn't gotten worse or affected performance so I haven't really looked into fixing it, unlike the diagnals on the d-pad - gotta be hard and precise to register them.

Figured I might as well mention my RB is a bit mushy when pressing it on the far end and may not register when doing it, and wonder if others with a springy trigger have this issue too. Thankfully the parts are cheap but I first need to grow the pair to open up my precious deck in the first place.

Fortunately my right trigger seems perfectly fine other than that spring sound every time I click it down. Also if you are planning on opening up your steam deck I recommend watching this video valve posted on it (https://youtu.be/Dxnr2FAADAs).

Did you manage to fix it?

I have this on my SD OLED SE but both shoulder buttons and both triggers do this. Doesn’t cause a problem but it’s a little off putting. It only happens when depressing the buttons, not when releasing.

I fixed this by opening it up and just moving the spring around a little with tweezers. I didn’t have to even dissemble the trigger from the daughter board.

I think the spring just needed to get reseated to the plastic in my case.

I thought you were trolling but it actually fixed the issue for me
