1. No (or only a few) Windows games work? Change the Proton version Heroic Games Launcher uses
Open Heroic Game Launcher
Click on Wine Manager in the menu on the left
Click on the tabs under the words Wine Manager, click any red buttons beside the Proton version listings to uninstall them
Click on the Proton-GE tab, click on the blue button beside Proton-GE-Latest to install it
(Or, you can choose to use any of the other listed Proton versions here if it will be more compatible)
Now, Heroic Launcher will use the latest official version of Proton-GE, any games that were using another version that were installed using Heroic Game Launcher will display a prompt asking to use this version. Always answer this prompt with Yes (NOTE: An internet connection could be required for Heroic Game Launcher to redownload and install required dependencies for the game)
2. Only some Windows games do not work? Try making them use a different Proton version
Open Heroic Game Launcher
Click on Library in the list on the left
Find the game in the list that is not working in your library, click on the game settings icon (the white icon at the bottom of the game image)
In the settings window that opens, click on the box under Wine Version, select a different version of Proton from the list
(NOTE: You can look for the game on protondb.com to find suggesions for which Proton version to use on steam deck. If you do not find the game on that website, you will just have to try out different Proton versions to find one that works properly)
(NOTE: If the desired or compatible Proton version is not listed, you can use ProtonUp-QT to install it, after which it should appear in the list)
3. Linux version of a game does not work in Steam OS? Install the WIndows version
Open Heroic Game Launcher
Click on Library in the list on the left
Find the game in the list that is not working in your library, click on the game
The game details should now be displayed. Click on the icon with 3 dots at the upper right, then click on Uninstall in the list that appears
After the game finishes being uninstalled, click on the Install button
Click on the box under Select Platform Version to Install, then select Windows
Click on Install and let Heroic Games Launcher install the game
