Access virtual menus with buttons?
This is may a dumb question, but is it possible to access virtual menus with buttons?
As in, when I press or press and hold any button, for example the face buttons, the virtual menu pops up then select an option with either trackpad or joysticks.

You can change the behavior of a trackpad or joystick with a mode shift or an action layer.

The virtual menu will not pop up solely by pressing the button. However, if you are touching the trackpad when the button is pressed, the virtual menu will pop up. On the joystick, you will either have to move the stick to the deflected position or lift your thumb off the stick and then touch it again for the virtual menu to pop up.

Of that I’m aware, but I want to be able to use the trackpad as, say, a mouse and be able to use virtual menus whenever I need them with the same trackpad. Is that possible?

Yes, you can do it with a mode shift, an action layer, or an action set.

For a mode shift, select the trackpad behavior and scroll down to the bottom of the drop down menu. Click on Create a Mode Shift. Set up your virtual menu and choose the mode shift button you want to activate it.

You can also do it by adding an action layer or set. Choose a button to apply the layer. Change the mouse to a virtual menu in the layer. Set a command to remove the layer when finished with the virtual menu.
