Steam deck difference between Left and Right side
HI, on friday i received my steam deck, in these days of testing i found a couple of things on the hardware side that make me suspicious.

First of all the haptic feedback of the left trackpad is stronger and gives an impression of something scratching inside than the right one which gives me a vibration sensation which in my opinion is correct.

Another thing I noticed only yesterday, when I place steamdeck on a flat surface it is not perfectly symmetrical, if I press the xyab buttons area the steam deck does not rest on both sides therefore it wobbles (to give an example like iphones that have the camera on one side). Is it normal that there are these assembly defects? do you have any solution?

I hope I explained myself well as I am using the help of the translator. Thank you.

As for the haptics, play with the intensity settings. You might just as well be able to rectify the situation by lowering intensity on the left.

Yes, thank you. I've tried but it's not only stronger, the feedback it's different, seems like there's something inside scratch on something:steamsad:

That would be RMA then.

It is hard to say whether that is normal or not without directly comparing them.

Mine has a similar effect. The left trackpad seems to be imagined to be used more as a D-Pad replacement, while the right is imagined to be used as proper trackpad.

Moving your finger across the left is more like moving your finger across a number pad on a keyboard, while moving your finger across the right trackpad is more like a mouse on a mouse pad.

On the wobbling, the Deck should be symmetrical. I haven't noticed any wobbling. Are you sure the surface is flat?

Something I never noticed until right now is a "click", like that of a button, when I put pressure on the abxy area. This happens whether on a flat surface, or if I "pinch" together the two parts of the case at that corner.

That is normally about where I hold the device to set it down. I do get similar "creaking" noises from between the SD card slot and the bottom middle of the device, when "pinching" the front bezel to the back of the case.

I have a Logitech Classic Keyboard 200, model Y-UR83, that has a similar creakiness to it. Much of my wood furniture and flooring also has a similar creakiness, including my computer desk.

Nothing seems to be broken or defective.

Not saying your Steam Deck isn't defective, nor am I dismissing that it might have been damaged during shipping.

I just can't confirm that your Deck is defective from the description provided.

My synaptic feedback has changed with the various updates. It seems better now.

I first thought that my SD was wobbly but I found that my desk my SD was laying on is a bit warped. So I would recommend testing it on different flat surfaces.

No, this isn't a creaking, the back of mine steam deck isn't symmetrical. I can see that the RT button doesn't touch the surface for few millimeters and if i touch in the xayb area it go down and the RT touch the surface but LT lift for few millimeters . (yes I've tried on different flat surface like the table or the kitchen.)

I'm not sure how the left trackpad haptics are supposed to differ from the right one, but I have the same situation. For some reason the left trackpad haptics are "doubled", so when I press it down I feel two clicks as opposed to a normal crisp single haptic feedback on the right. When swiping across the left one haptics also feel doubled, so the feedback is much stronger and feels like the whole surface is rattling, even after adjusting haptic strength in settings, it feels just as rattly on all intensity settings. Looks like a firmware or software issue to me...
