Disable updates for specific app in Discover in desktop mode?
I know I could just click update on everything else, but...

Is there a way to get the Discover app to ignore updates for a specific app so they're never presented?
Thanks, T

Looks like 'flatpak mask <app-id>' might be the answer. Need to test.

Yup, that worked. Used flatpak update --commit=... to install the older version I wanted. I then checked Discover and it wanted to update the app to the current version. I ran 'flatpak mask <app-id>' and DIscover no longer shows the update.

All commands done with sudo.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but this is great as the latest version of Kodi totally ignores mySQL db and I want to keep it at version 20.5. If I ever want to upgrade it down the road I found you can use --remove like this... flatpak mask --remove <ID here>

AVOID using flatpak commands with sudo!

Exactly this. :steamthis: It will prompt the current user for a password if needed. No need for sudo.

At the time I did this, sudo was required to do what I wanted to do.

This isn't working for me. I downgraded Bottles ([1])) & I’m trying to remove the update listing in Discover. I ran the following :

flatpak mask com.usebottles.bottles

It prompted me for the password, I entered it, & it returns to command line with no message. I then reopen Discover & it's listed as an update right at the top.

How do I remove this update listing?

Have you found a solution? I found this post via Google and would also like to mask a flatpak from Discovery.

I have not. I’ve just taken to unselecting it in Discover when updating. It's a PITA needing to be so hypervigilant when updating, lest I break all my existing Bottles, but I’m stuck without a better solution.

I’m not sure it's still an issue. At this point they're on revision 20 or so, so it's possible I could update & not be impacted. But I’ve been reluctant to do that as I have enough projects going & I don't want to add fixing Bottles (again) to the list.

Edit : Took the plunge & updated Bottles. They're on x.21 as of this writing. It works fine with all my existing bottles from x.9, only prompting for a program to run it & defaulting to Bottles. Once I clicked “Always use this program for this” I never saw the prompt again & Bottles, as mentioned, work like they always have (knocks wood).

The only trouble I ran into was that the Mask actually prevented the update. I tried to update a few times before it occurred to me that the Mask might be the problem. Once I removed it, it updated fine. It seems like the Mask doesn’t stop prompting for updates, only prevents them.

I’d love someone with definitive knowledge on Linux to weigh in on this. I’ll also have to ask my SysAdmin friends.

Did you try using sudo to set the flatpak mask?
Firebrand Mar 20 @ 11:59pm
AFAIK Sudo isn't recommended as it's a immutable file system & updates will blow away changes made with Sudo. Anything needing Sudo permission will prompt for a password. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I did this for an application over a year ago and it still sticks after many updates. Use sudo just for masking the app, that's it.
