Steam Deck

Does it go on sale?
Title. Thought of getting the " fastest storage " edition but 670€ is too much imo. I'd get it for like 500.

Steam does not do sale on hardware. The Deck is already priced at barely a profit.

The Steam Deck is compared to other Handhelds and the good Hardware it have cheap to buy. I think Valve earn not much with Steam Deck sales alone.

That "fastest storage" is vague AF, I'd say intentionally. In practice, there's not much, if any, discernable difference in game load times so just get the mid-tier model and call it a day.
Or get the base model & upgrade the SSD (and call it a day).

I wasn't planning on getting it for the speed solely, but the 512gb's too. And I think it says that you are not supposed to upgrade anything.

I got mine mostly for the anti-glare screen, taking the space as a nice bonus :acleap: That said, Valve even got a video of how to upgrade the SSD. They don't say "don't do it" there, as much as they say "make sure you know what you're doing".

I thought they said Do as I say not as I do in the video in regards to taking the deck apart along with that it was the customer's property so they can do with it as they please but its at the customer's own risk that take it apart.

The situation is pretty clear: modifying your Deck doesn't void your warranty, except when what's broken, you broke. That's a pretty sane policy.

People here notoriously denied that it would be ever possible to have a discount on the SD. And yet we've seen a 10% discount within the first year. The SD is getting more and more outdated and there are also other good products from the competition, it's only a matter of time when the next sale starts. I don't think it'll take too long.
