If you explained further what you are trying to find then perhaps someone could help you better.

SteamOS hates this trick:

After finding a folder that you are going to access a lot, make it a shortcut to have it one click away.

LOL OP sounds like me at first, a windows guy trying to work with Linux.... FWIW, once you get enough of linux, the rewards of being proficient on steam deck is well worth it.
What's the problem with the file system? Personally the only thing I found confusing was how other drives are mounted into the main directory instead of being their own directories each like in Windows

Also, I hate how hidden folders are, well, hidden by default, and files you might need to access are put inside of them. But Windows and Android do that too so what can you do

Other than that... I mean, it's just different, right? It's not a copycat of Windows or anything so the structure is different, but different doesn't mean worse. In fact I think Android, Linux and MacOS are pretty similar to one another and Windows is actually the outlier

Bro. 1 hour of configuring gave me an infinitely better desktop environment than any iteration of Windows after XP. Slow down, CALM DOWN, and read. Do this and you will be rewarded. Whine like a baby and we'll just laugh at you.

I agree. Everything's oddly named.
They used abbreviations that aren't obvious, which is generally a bad design choice because remembering after some time what things are named for, and trying to navigate without a guide can become far more difficult.
Even worse, there are a lot of similar folders and shortcuts.
The folder structures feel like a labyrinth, compared to Windows.
Not to say that Windows has no issues, with programs having their files thrown everywhere, but it's not quite as opaque.

Nah dude, you're obviously illiterate for not wanting to deal with the hassle and complexity of linux. /s

This is one of the main problems with this device. Everything on the desktop is unintuitive, and complicated as hell. When you watch some tutorials which use the console, the fun begins.

SteamOS is a big fail overall, everything needs to be done by the user in the most unintuitive and most annoying way. Have fun watching endless tutorials to get the most basic tasks going.

What are you talking about. SteamOS is just Linux and Unix-like, very similar to MacOS. It wasn't going to be not Linux

The part that matters is game mode, you don't have to do anything on the desktop, they let you because they don't believe in closed hardware like Xbox and PlayStation

Sooner or later you absolutely DO have to use the desktop to get certain games running. Never heard about 3rd party launchers like Lutris, Heroic, & co?

Yeah, if the bpm interface was enough to really play all games, this wouldn't be an issue.

But due to the nature of PC games, where you oftentimes deal with file systems when you install mods in games, change a config, you do modify stuff in the file explorer. All of that is very bad in steamos. It's neither simple, nor intuitive. Not to mention the process of INSTALLING something.

Again, have fun watching tutorial after tutorial for basic tasks that take a few seconds in windows, but a few hours in Linux.

It's like you quoted my post and then ignored what I said... no, you don't HAVE to do that. The Steam Deck has its library of supported games and that's it. It was designed to be a console. Everything else is on you and not supported

It's like saying sooner or later you have to put Android on your OG Switch, that's nonsense

I've played hundreds of hours on the steam deck under steam os, I know exactly how clumsy the user experience is if you're trying to use the device for what it was advertised as: Cumbersome as hell.

"Your games are going places", "Take your steam library anywhere" were popular advertising claims, the more honest slogan would be "Your supported games are going places"...

And where did Valve ever say that "It was designed to be a console"? You seem to be confused, how did you get to that conclusion?
