Best time of year to buy a dock?
Hi guys,

I am an owner of a Steam Deck for about 15 months and looking to buy a dock. I do know that the dock has been on sale a few times before but haven't kept track of which all sales discounted it by how much. Will the three sales near the end of the year discount it by a large amount, or is only the summer sale a good time to buy one?

depending on what ports you actually need, you could buy something for 30€ that is not related to Valve.

I already own a USB-C port item, but I would like the dock because it props up the Steam Deck as well and has a faster charging port. Plus it just looks cool.

Do you know at which time of year it's cheapest to buy, and how much (if any) summer is cheaper than Christmas?

I found the 99€ quite expensive for the dock. It comes with another charger tho', which are quite expensive already, on their own.

I used the dock as a stand for my phone as well on travels.

Guess for xmas they gonna make a sale for deck+dock again.

Winter sales and Summer sales have been hotspots for Valve hardware discounts so look forward to those if you still want to buy the official dock.

I admit I also don't really feel great about its price, and would also recommend third party variants like JSAUX, which also get decent to good reviews.

What country do you live in to get the dock for €99? I live in the Netherlands though my Steam country is set to the United States (I moved a couple months ago but haven't updated my country at the moment). For me, the dock is $89 USD, which is about €83. I don't know if I'd have to pay VAT to get it shipped to Europe though. May I ask what country your account is on, and if it will cost me more to get the dock?

it's 99€ in the entire Europe. If you moved here permanently you will need to change your Steam Region.

The deck doesn't charge at more than ~25w anyways, though to charge and play it can go up to ~40-45w. Is there a USB-C dock that can't do such charging speeds?

I haven't heard that, as far as I know you can't set it to something that's not true, but I know nothing about being required to update it. I am curious if shipping to Europe when my location isn't there will incur VAT taxes, but that's not related to the next Steam sale.

Well Valve won't ship it from a US warehouse (due to your account) into the Netherlands, so you won't get it here.

Heya, shop is set to germany. Tech is sent from the netherlands, where they got a distribution center, I guess.
In the sale it cost around...85€ I think.

Hey guys,

Steam Deck dock just went on sale for US$71.20 or €79,20. Does anyone know if it's ever been lower or if this is the lowest it's ever been?

Hardware sales don't tend to be very deep since there's a production cost involved, unlike games which are entirely passive income, But I thought I remembered it being in the 40's at some point

The dock should be cheaper since "stable compatibility" is yet to be achived

Thanks for the link. Looks like this is the lowest it's ever been, then. I recall a deeper discount, like 50% or something in the past, but I might have been thinking of a game.

I'm curious in hearing how it's not compatible though. I'm considering buying one so I would like to hear if it's not working

Well, what im saying is that for its premium price, the dock still has a considerable number of bugs/errors that are yet to be fixed + valve is slow with the firmware updates. Just look up "steamdeck dock problems" and you'll find them.

Most of the time it works fine but sometimes its a hit or miss.

Im also looking to buy one but i'll wait a few more months.
