How to exit/close RPCS3 in gaming mode?
Got RPCS3 working via EmuDeck. Launched game via Steam Library in gaming mode and was playing some Modern Warfare 2, but how do you exit? When pressing the Steam button, nothing happens. The usual menu doesn’t appear showing the Exit Game option. I have to restart the Deck to exit the game.

The force quit (Steam button + B for 5 seconds or more) might do it, but that's certainly not ideal either. The fact the usual Steam menu doesn't appear when you press the Steam button is rather weird, probably this RPCS3 thing is way too "aggressive" by "stealing" rendering context or what's the name, so nothing else has a chance to draw its content on the screen, including the Steam menu.

One possibility could perhaps be going to Steam Input and then select one of the button (or any other input) you want to use to close the game, and then go to the right side tab that has various actions. One of those actions is a game shutdown.

Whenever I bind that action (typically to L5, I think), I make it a long press action so I wouldn't shut down a game by mistake even if I happen to slightly press the button by accident.

Of course I can't be sure if it will work in your situation or not but it would certainly be better than restarting the Deck.

Did some research and apparently this is a bug/or issue with some emulators in game mode, where the Steam and 3-dot buttons don’t work and Steam button shortcuts don’t work. Cemu has this problem as well.

So far, the only way out of this without restarting is to switch to Desktop mode and then switch back to game mode again.

Mizufluffy, I’ll look into your suggestion and try it out. Thanks!

Mizufluffy, unfortunately, assigning Force Game Shutdown to a button input didn’t work, but I appreciate your suggestion.

To anyone else having this issue, the most graceful solution I was able to stumble across was to hold the power button, as if I was going to switch to desktop mode, and hit Cancel.

This brings me to the gaming mode Steam Home page, showing the most recently played game, which is still running in the background. When you select this, you’ll see the Resume button with an X button to the right of it. Hit that X, and it will close the game.

Not very expedient, but better than the alternatives, ig. Thanks everyone for your responses!

Could you set a radial menu shortcut to escape or the like?

The best solution I found was to not launch the game directly, but, in gaming mode, to launch the RPCS3 emulator, and then launch the game from within the emulator. This way, the Steam and dot buttons work and I can exit the game. This also works for other emulators that exhibit this same problem.
