desktop mode - spotify client
hi,
not sure how many people use their steam deck as a 100% desktop replacement like i do, but just in case there are and people use the spotify client...

every once in a while (maybe once or twice per hour of listening), songs on spotify will skip for a second. no clue what could be causing this. my internet connection is stable, i've tried lowering the quality on spotify in the settings and that doesn't seem to matter, it just seems random. never had this occur on windows, so not sure if it's a linux specific issue with the client.

thanks

It sounds like the Spotify app is clearing cache files which are temporarily put on the disk to prevent skips in the first place. Changing the streaming quality will not effect this. Also, if you have Spotify installed on a micro SD card, the delay may be caused by the read/write capabilities or lack thereof the memory card itself.

hmm there's an option in the settings to manually clear the cache, but i suppose that won't do anything. both the cache folder and the application itself is on the deck's internal drive.

I had this issue myself, I decided to download spotify onto a different microSD card and it stopped doing this, try that?

thanks, i'll give that a shot. would there be benefits to installing on a microsd vs the internal ssd?

well i thought this was going to be straight forward, but how do i change the install location from the internal SSD to a microSD for flatpaks using discovery?
