256 GB Deck arrived in 512 GB carrying case
Hi everyone,

Hope you all are having a good weekend. I had wanted to purchase the Deck when it was discounted in the UK, however stocks were depleted and have been for a while so I decided to get it purchased off of a third party retailer (it had good reviews).

So the Deck arrived in excellent condition and everything seemed normal. Completely sealed with the Valve zip tie. Model number is 1010, the Serial Number is present on the Deck. I haven't been on it much since I got it last week as I've been busy but seems to work and install well.

The funny thing is though, it came in the exclusive carrying case for the 512 GB one lol. Has anyone else ever had a similar experience? Did I just get lucky or do you think it's something to look in to?

Thank you,
Emre

Valve isn't going to care either way. You're fine.

Thanks mate. Was more worried initially that I had gotten a dodgy one, because of the different case. Although in hindsight probably if that was the case they wouldn't have given the better case lol. So production variation/error?

Are you sure it is the 512GB case? They all come with essentially the same case other than the emblem is metal on the 512GB case vs silkscreened on the other ones. Also the zipper tabs on the 512GB one are white.

Yes as the interior is grey and the Valve logo is blue.

Nice, it doesn’t happen to have an antiglare display and a 512GB SSD does it 🤣

The 512GB does not have metal emblem. It has a gummy emblem just that the dot in middle is blue instead of white that the 256GB has got by default.

The 64GB and 256GB have an all white silk screened logo. The 512GB case has a enamel coated metal blue and white logo.

I got ripped off then. My 512gb version came with a gummy blue and white logo as well, not a metal with enamel coating like my pokemon pins are for example.

Not ripped off, that is what you got. Its not the same as those pins (like your pokemon) where it is a thick piece of metal with a thin amount of enamel painted on for the coloring of the pins.

They could just be printed rubber, but the rigidity and feel of the material looks like a 20-24 gauge (e.g. a very thin piece) of metal that is dipped / fully coated with an enameling; then glued in the embossed logo area of the case. Feel free to cut yours open if you want to find out for sure.

Would it be easier to say one is embossed with a raised rubbery blue & white logo, while the other is not embossed and has a flat all-white silk-screened logo?
