Steamdeck External Monitor won't select resolution over 1920x1080
My steamdeck used to output 4k to my external monitor without a problem, but since last week it's got stuck at 1080p.

I can see the 4k resolution option to change it to in the settings but when I select it says its changed but nothing has happened. If i go out of the menu and back in it's still showing 1080p. I can select and go lower than 1080p and that setting changes and holds.

It happens on multiple monitors with USB-C connection or docked with HDMI.

I've tried beta firmware with no luck.

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

I just upgraded my internal ssd today and when I connected the steamdeck to my external display it also stayed at 1080. It was bothering me since my display is 1440, long story short after exhausting all the steamdeck settings I decided to look into my display settings and for some reason “Freesync” had turned off. I re-enabled it and my deck went back to recognizing the external display at 1440. By settings I mean the buttons the display have.

It's all here -> https://www.wikihow.com/Force-Steam-Deck-Resolution

I tested myself and worked.

1. Open the page for a specific game.
You can set unique resolution preferences for each individual game on your Steam Deck.[1] Open a game's page in your Steam Library to get started.
Make sure you have updated your Steam Deck before continuing. Forcing resolution is only available on Steam Decks that are up-to-date.

2. Click the gear icon.
This will open a drop-down menu.

3. Select "Properties".
This will open a separate menu, where you can update various preferences related to this specific game.

4. Select a new resolution.
Navigate to the General subsection and then Game Resolution. Select a new resolution.
You may select any resolution, but we recommend maxing out at 1920x1080, as 1080p is the best your Steam Deck can run before risking any drops in frame rate.
You can also select Default to use the default setting for each game you run, or Native to stick to the Steam Deck's native resolution of 720p.
