Steam Deck disconnects and forgets wifi after reboot or shut down
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this issue I'm experiencing on my Steam Deck :)

I just got my Deck, and I've been having a strange issue where SteamOS forgets my Wi-Fi network each time I reboot or turn on the device after a shutdown. When it does connect, there is also a chance that it will say I have no internet/ I'm in offline mode, even though the Wi-Fi icon is clearly lit up and there are no errors indicating that I'm connecting without internet. I've looked online for resources, but I can't seem to find anything on this and the closest issue I found was resolved by going into desktop mode and making sure that it's also set to auto-connect to my network as well, which it is.

On the SteamOS side of things, I have tried to reset the auto connect toggle as well as making sure both SteamOS and Desktop mode are connected at the same time. I've also manually forgotten the network and reconnected to see if that reset anything, but nothing has worked so far. I know the Wi-Fi card is not an issue though because I also installed Windows for a dual boot and Windows does reconnect after a shutdown and reboot. It's just SteamOS that doesn't.

I did install a 1TB SD card and I made some successful internal modifications to the deck such as a larger 2TB SSD and installed GuliKit Hall Effect joysticks, but I don't see how that would have possibly messed with anything, especially since it is working as intended on my Windows partition. For my dual boot, I placed Windows in the SSD along with SteamOS. Windows has about 1.5TB of space and SteamOS has the SD's 1TB and the remaining .5TB on the SSD. For dual boot I use Clover. I do know that SteamOS definitely has its bugs, but this feels like something that just shouldn't be happening at this point in time; it leads to a very frustrating user experience having to reconnect and retype a password every time

Goto Steam;
Goto System;
Goto System Settings, Enable Developer Mode;
Goto Steam;
Goto Developer;
Goto Miscellaneous, Disable WiFi Power Management

Note: The last one is to bring 802.11 AC To a more reliable Pairing

Check this out and post back so others may know...

Cheers and good luck gaming dude!!!!:steamhappy:

Unfortunately, this did not work for me :( Just in case anyone else does give this a try I found the setting in a slightly different location. For me it was:

Steam Button -> Settings -> Scroll to System Settings -> Toggle Enable Developer Mode

For WiFi Power Management it was:

Steam Button -> Settings -> Developer -> Scroll Down to Miscellaneous

I found another oddity. I switched to the beta branch to see if maybe one of those updates could help in some way and for some reason the reboot it does in the update process kept the Wi-Fi connected but when I do a reboot myself it forgets the network

Final update: So I was looking around the web and came across a github issue on the Valve github similar to mine (forgot the link but not important bc it didn't work for me) I tried it out and used some commands on Konsole and somehow managed to bork my entire SteamOS install. I had to do a reimage of the whole deck itself but that ultimately fixed everything.

The only weird issue now is that I can't seem to partition my SSD anymore to dual boot Windows but I'll live. The only Windows game I need is Diablo and I can run it fairly well through Proton
Having a similar issue to this rn

Great product steam
