Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Delivery of steam deck
So I want to buy a steam deck but I have a fear that during delivery they will come for example in the morning and no one will be home, because we all work, to take it and the steam deck will be sent back and I would have to reorder it.

In cases like this, I put the address of my nearest transport company and when it arrives I just go and get the product whenever I want, with a small fee of course. From what I read Valve uses DHL to deliver the steam decks and I wonder if I can do the same. I have never used DHL so I have no idea if they can do it. Any ideas?

Mine is being shipped by FedEx and there is an option to hold the package at my local FedEx facility and it looks like DHL also has the same kind of option.

Where is the option to deliver it to a local facility? Or do you just type the address of said transport facility and you are done?

They used GLS for mine.

If you're had deliveries before and they always arrived in the morning, then it's safe to assume that the Steam Deck will also arrive in the morning. Depends on where you're from.

For me, it did arrive in the morning, but so does everything else whenever I order stuff. I did have the option to change the address or relay it to office the day before. Depending on the courier, you will either receive an e-mail or a text message with a link with info and I believe you can also do that on their app. I always get a phone call by the delivery people when they're nearby and I get asked if I'm at the address of delivery. I haven't tried to relay to office on the phone yet because I've always done it through their website.

I've had a delivery from DHL only once and from that experience they e-mailed me about my package on the day of delivery, about 2 hours before it arrived early in the morning. I couldn't react to it in time. Experience may differ, but just giving a heads up if they do end up using DHL.

For me it went with GLS from NL to Denmark before it arrived to Sweden - Malmö, Where it was then handed over to DB Schenker and then DB Schenker shipped it to my nearest pickup location which was my store where it became available for pickup.

So it seems it's different for ever country. Some it is delivery to the door while others are to their nearest pickup point/store.

Depending on the carrier, once it's in their system and in their hands, there is an option on their site to hold it at their facility. Fedex does this but I don't know about others.

When you get the tracking number there should be an option to hold at location (or something similar) on the package tracker page. I'd highly recommend not putting the facility address as the shipping address, because that's a good way for for your package to get "lost".

EU and UK stock are separate. It's in high demand in the UK. Keep an eye on the page, you might be able to catch one.

Thanks for all the replies. I will try to speak with the carrier when they finally give me the order number so that I can retrieve it from them.
