Trusted way to get Steam Deck in Australia

not sure if this is the right place to ask this but its my first time using steam discussions and ive done around 3 hours of research today and am finding myself going in literal circles.

i live in victoria, australia. the steam deck isnt being shipped to australia currently and not for the forseeable future. there are ways to get the steam deck in my hands but some seem dodgy, such as buying from external retailers or even using a service that will ship to a us address and then ship it to my door. i just want to own a steam deck without losing a huge sum of money in the process because jesus christ is it expensive.

so any australians, or anyone who would legitimately know a solution to this, whats the gameplan?
