Now before I start upgrade, I turn off SteamDeck, pull out SD card, turn on SteamDeck, start update, turn off SteamDeck, insert SD card and turn on SteamDeck.
Works fine since I use this "method".
Do you get an error when trying to format it?
I rebooted my Steam Deck and tried formatting it again, and it worked this time. Hopefully it stays that way
Same as me, my Steam Deck broke two Canvas Select Plus 512GB. One was updating the system and the other one was by trying to launch a new game not from Steam.
As I lost two SD cards I'm performing an SSD upgrade and decided to not use a micro SD maybe just for games that I try or I don't care losing anything.
I've tried many advanced things to try to restore the micro SD but it's just so bricked that I can't barely try anything to revive my SD card.
If someone is about to buy a micro SD card for the Steam Deck I don't recommend Kingston, just tried the Canvas Select Plus, but I wouldn't try the other models from the same brand on the Steam Deck.
Right now I'm doing low level formatting and seeing if I can achieve something. If I achieve to unbrick the micro SD I will update this message.
Anyone tried the Kingston's A2 model: Canvas Go! Plus?
My damaged card is not being read by any device. It looks like I haven't inserted a card.
Any tips?

Optimized for high-resolution photos filming and editing full HD videos.......
Kingston pretty much admitted these SD cards stink and cannot survive normal OS workloads. Video, images etc require performance but rather low write environments. SteamOS and other gaming applications needs storage which can survive databases.
I'm using SteamOS 3.5 (Preview Channel)
I always make the internal storage to Default one.
I not use the microSD to storage Games, only Mame Roms (only 340GB)

"Kingston microSD cards are compatible with Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch and other gaming devices, mobiles and tablets with a microSD slot. The lifetime warranty and free technical support will assist you for years to come, and with a range of capacities to suit all your storage requirements you won't need to worry whilst gaming."
I wish I read about this earlier. Experienced exactly the same chain of events. Next trying out Canvas Go Plus, which seems to be recommended by Kingston[www.kingston.com] for Steam Deck use.
As I've not had need for a bigger drive than 128GB in the past I only had smaller drives to repurpose so I bought a 512 GB Canvas select plus directly from Amazon EU (so should be authentic) last week to act as a stop gap until I could install a bigger SSD. Kingston were reliable in the mid-2000's and early 10's so I gave them a go over Sandisk or Samsung.
Less than 1 week later, with <10 games installed and <4h playtime the card has died a truly terrible death and a several year old sandisk card & samsung are plugging the gap until another card can be delivered later this week. Needless to say Kingston or at least their entry level cards have entered the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ alongside PNY to be avoided for now and will continue to be avoided when the time comes to reach into 1TB and beyond.
Posting here merely to record the rapid failure of the same card.
