Right trackpad feels stiff and hard to press
So I just received my SD from RMAing it for the right trackpad which had a click, even when off. The click is no longer present but now the trackpad feels incredibly stiff and hard to click. It’s even worse now than before. Would loosening the screws help? And how could Steam Support okay the unit when it feels so bad?

Pretty upset that they made it worse

I went through 3 Decks because of trackpad issues (I kept the third one). I recorded a video where I tried my best to show the issue, put it up unlisted (not private!!!) on YouTube, and described it in text in the ticket. Both times I immediately got an RMA.

If the click is set to soft press, you can adjust the soft press threshold which adjusts how much force is required to activate the click. Have you tried decreasing this number?

Yeah, I messed with those and turned down the threshold to no avail. It’s very noticeably too hard to press, like it feels like I need proper force. And I have strong fingers but it just doesn’t feel right.

My brother just got a steam deck and the difference is very noticeable.

Good to know, they asked me a bunch of questions and it took a while. And shipping to them got delayed from weather unfortunately. I’ll call/message support and see what can be done.

They sent me back the same unit with the right trackpad replaced. It’s way too tight/firm to click comfortably
