Steamdeck won‘t start/no BIOS
1 week ago I put my steamdeck to sleep. Today I wanted to play a little but the battery was completely dead. Ever since I plugged it in, the fan will start, but that’s it. No start, no reset (3 seconds/10 seconds), no BIOS start (+ and start). Any ideas on what to do?

SOLVED THE ISSUE:

1. plug power cable in
2. Press + and … for 10 seconds
3. Keep pressing but remove power cable
4. Release buttons
5. Power button should be deactivated
6. Plug power cable back in
7. power button should work and Deck should start properly

New problem: ever since that happened, Hogwarts Legacy is now not running @ 50 fps anymore but @ 13 fps

Turn on the performance overlay and what does it say for your CPU/GPU speeds?

Thank you for you response. The CPU‘s seem not to exceed 30% and the GPU seems to reach 100%. I think the trick above did erase all settings. I can’t even get the game run at 10 FPS in the menu! FSR was also off, did turn it back on, but does not seem to be useful.

Also: the issue seems to be global. All other games have the same issue!

I was trying to get you to look at the speeds (mhz) of your CPU/GPU. See if you are running into the same issue as this thread:

Oh, I see. Thank you for sharing, but I don‘t think that‘s the issue. The weird thing is it seems like it caps the fps but the Hardware is not struggeling. In Jedi Fallen Order for example, I am having 2-4 FPS in the menu but when I actually play it will run at stable 15 FPS. With stable I mean the game runs smoothly, no freezes no typical stuttering - only the frames are set to 15. It’s weird.

I suggest considering this an RMA case. Having to jump through hoops to get the firmware to run is a sign of some really deep trouble, same goes for inexplicable performance.

Thank you for your reply. I hope I’ll get it back to normal without RMA but if that’s the last option, then that’s what I’m gonna do. The thing is: I assume that the Deck somehow overheated in the case and it might have cut down on performance and I “just” need to disable that. But I don’t now if the deck would do that.

Genuinely thank you so much, this saved so many hours of frustration. Remind me in a few weeks when the Steam Summer Sale ends so I can give you points.

How the hell do you remove the cable while holding down buttons that require both hands?
