Steam Deck

Steam Deck

no signal on TV with dock
When I plug my steam deck into my dock, which is connected to my TV I get no signal. If I disconnect it from the dock, pull the power from my dock, reconnect to my steam deck with no power, I get signal. I can then reconnect the power and everything works just fine. I thought this was an issue with the cheap dock I got off of Amazon so I bit the bullet and purchased the official dock... And it does the exact same thing.

Is there a setting or something on the deck, or TV, that I can change to stop this from happening? It's quite annoying.

Thanks!

I am having the same issue(I think). When I go from handheld to docked mode (with the official dock), I have to power cycle the dock(by unplugging power cable) before it will output signal to the TV. After that, as long as I don't detach the Deck from the Dock, it seems to work correctly, even after sleep/shutdown. But as soon as you remove the Deck from the Dock, the issue returns the next time you plug it in.

Found no solution beyond power cycling the Dock so far :/

What kind of TV do you have? What is the model number?

its trash mostly tv's, the forced (lets read what the signal is and apply of smart tv's to collect and send data) is main culprit, official dock is also borked with updates, until the official dock gets fixed, best use a 3rd party since steam as come out that offiacial dock isnt guaranteed to work in the future, while deck still doesnt work well with controllers at all, u can use a usb to hdmi cord and deck will work no problems to tv as it sends a signal as a pc input, unless recent update borked that, havent tried lately, also depending on tv, since most are trash, try just exiting when detecting input, some tv;s just switch over to direct input

My TV is a Samsung, it looks nice but the OS is pretty terrible and I regret not buying an LG...
Samsung - 65" Class 8 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Tizen TV
Model:UN65RU8000FXZA

While I sympathize that the issue may not be entirely on Valve due to TV manufacturers' decisions...my Nintendo Switch dock has NEVER had this issue, so it is obviously a problem that can be solved on Valve's end. And based on the price of the Dock...they should try to solve it.

My current solution is that I installed a smart plug that the Dock power supply is plugged into so I can cycle the power via my phone rather than having to manually fiddle with cables every time.

PS. HDMI switchs are also having hard time wtih the Steam Dock/any dock but it's same for the PS4 if you got the VR box for it

Same issue, same solution (with power cycle)...
Does valve know the problem? How we can draw theyr attention? Will be solved with a firmware update?

Exact same issue here. Disconnect power and then reconnect power fixes it but is very annoying to do.

Same here.
I leave mine docked, and one in ten times I turn it on, I get the no signal issue, until I undock and redock.

Is it me, or is the deck just getting progressively worse as time goes on?

I stand corrected.
Pretty much every time I want to turn the SteamDeck on, I have to undock it, spam the bloody power button to get it to work, as thats a whole other story, and then redock the freaking thing.

The deck is getting progressively worse.
And the dock has been a steaming pile of @#£& since its release.

All this so I can play like one or two games?
It really is not worth it at this point.

Great, I installed the recent update to the steam deck and first time ever experienced the no output issue!

Luckily, it's fixed by pulling the power supply, and just put it back in.

Still this is quite annoying. Especially if it keeps happening every time I want to play on TV from now on.

My solution ended up being to return the Steam Dock and buy one of the Jsaux docks from Amazon, havn't had a single issue with Jsaux.

Is this issue only with the official steam dock? I thought other docks might also have the issue.

I gave up and just use the official dock as a charging station in a drawer. For my TV I use a super cheap dock I got off of Amazon. Works every time with no issues.
