Steam Deck

How do you restore the desktop Steam OS mode icon?
At some point I had a zip file that errored during unzipping, and dumped thousands of files onto my desktop. Since I hadn't installed any games yet, I just deleted the entire desktop and started over.
Found out all to late, after looking at one of my kids Steam Decks, that there was an icon on the desktop, that allowed you to switch to Steam OS mode, without fully logging you out of desktop mode, so you could bounce back and forth should you need to. How does one get that icon back?

Just for clarification, you mean he should create a file called "Return.deskop" on the desktop with that content (minus the "Return.desktop" of course)?

Yes. And probably right click on it, choose properties, go to the permissions tab, check the Is Executable checkbox and hit OK.

If these above mentioned tips don't help:
I had the same problem right after I received my deck. I just reseted the whole deck. (It depends on how much stuff you already did with it, if it's worth or not)
Just my little try to help here :)

You can just log out from the start menu and it will go back to gaming mode

Yes you can, but that icon is a much better option for me, due to my handicaps.
