Steam Deck

Does the Deck draw power from battery while being plugged in via wall?
Im about to buy a deck, but i would like to know if it has passthrough if i'm plugged into the wall. I dont want to accidently waste the battery in the long run.

If you keep the deck plugged, it will charge the battery. Then, when it's full, it will disconnect the battery. You can see this because the % of the charge will very slowly decrease during the following days (if you kept it all the time plugged) until it reaches some point under 90%, moment in which it will start charging again until it reaches 100% again. The slow decrease of the battery % is by the natural discharge of batteries while time passes without them being used.

The battery is only used while plugged in if the charger is not powerful enough. The included charger is powerful enough that it will not be running on battery while plugged in.
The Deck will preserve battery life on mains.

The Deck will pull from the battery if the PD charging port is not strong enough.
But this would only happen if you're using a USB hub with the stock charger, that has several devices attached to the hub or dock. With a 60W-65W computer PD port (e.g. some recent motherboards that have PD charging through USB-C), or a 65W or higher charger, this will never happen.
