Issues with PCSX2 running on Steam Deck

Let me preface this by saying that I may be the most tech-challenged person you know. So, please dumb down any advice you might be able to share.

My issue is with PCSX2. I installed it from the Discover Store when I bought my SD a few months ago. It was so easy, even I was able to have it up and running. All was well. Until it wasn't.

All of a sudden, PCSX2 wouldn't open it all. If I clicked play/launch, it would just hang and refuse to even end, until I restarted my SD. I am assuming this was due to an update, either of the SD or the PCSX2. Regardless, when I could not get anywhere, I removed it completely, and reinstalled it the same way (Flatpak through the Discovery Store).

Now, the Discovery Store gives us the nightly build of PCSX2 (I guess?), so that's what I have now. My PS2 games all launch fine, but my SD controls do not work in any game. This is Desktop or Game Mode. Clearly, there is something different with my control scheme, since just hitting X alone brings up the keyboard now. I go into Settings, then Controllers, in PCSX2 in Desktop, but nothing looks obviously wrong (to my eyes, anyway).

So, any thoughts? And, again, please give me any advice in little dumbed down bits. I may be an older guy, but I need technology instruction like a child. Thanks to anyone who may be willing to help!

I had troubles getting the Flatpak version running properly from the Discover Store. 99% sure it's permissions issues that can be solved using Flatseal.

Ultimately I downloaded the latest nightly build from the official PCSX2 website. Comes as a .appimage file so can run from any location.

So far I've not has any issues with this version and I found it much easier to setup. Just renamed the downloaded file to 'pcsx2.appimage' for convenience and I was good to go.

If anyone else if having this issue, I have a potential fix. At least, it seemed to fix my issue. I believe it was a Steam update that changed the controller configuration. On Desktop mode, I went into the Steam client (bottom right), Settings, Controllers, Desktop config, Browse Config. Where it had Desktop Config, I changed it to Gamepad and hit Apply, then Done. Then, I went into PCSX2 in Settings, Controllers, Controller Port 1, Automap (Top left) and selected Gamepad. Then it worked for me.

alright, not entirely relevant but yall know the steam deck, so basically im installing the pc port of spiderman 2 and when i run setup.exe after installing 90 gigs of files it will freeze/crash right after selecting the directory and choosing if i want shortcuts. yall got any ideas?
