Steam Deck

Steam Link doesnt work.
How do i fix this? i got it working for like 2 attempts to stream my decks desktop mode with it onto my pc for managing and installing stuff with my mouse and keyboard and to be quicker in general, but even then i had to pair und unpair it multiple times for it to work once or twice and had to redo the whole thing again a day later.

today i havent managed to get it to work yet, trying it since 20 minutes.
how do i fix this? i literally just want to install stuff and manage some things quickly...
before i used anydesk, but it became shovelware, it literally pauses your controls etc. for like 3 minutes every 5 minutes asking you for a pro license lmao.

anyone else know anything about this issue and how to fix it? would apreciate it!
Happy new year everyone!

There's other remote control tools. SSH is a common one in the Linux space. My personal favorite is RDP which is available around Linux as well (currently controlling my Raspberry Pi this way).

sounds like its overcomplicating things that im trying to do, i literally just want to control my deck from my pc due to mouse and keyboard... anydesk worked fine before they updated their stuff to break, and steam link, when it worked, was the perfect solution to it

i know steamlink works for deck to remote play pc, can only guess u have to pc steam interface to start steam link while deck is on and see if it connects or finds connected deck, u can try to see if even ur deck recognizes ur pc, at least it will show its connected

okay update, it seems like the issue is having the steam link application AND steam running. as soon as i turned off steam on my pc, and then opened the steam link application it connected within a blink of an eye.....

What happens if you disable Remote Play in the settings dialog on your PC? You should be able to run the Steam client and Steam Link at the same time then, that is how it works on macOS.
will test that tomorrow, so far i was able to recreate the problem by having steam open on my pc whenever i tried it, as soon as i closed it it worked instantly.

thx for the suggestion, gonna give it a shot tomorrow

Thank you so much for this. I tried literally everything, windows configuration, router configuration, steam deck configuration... I tried troubleshoot this stupid issue for hours but my PC still refused to connect to Steam Deck. I started to think about studying dark dark evil way of magic because it seemed like the only solution to this problem. And then bam! Just close main Steam app and everything working! Hooray!
