Emulators on steam deck

Hello there.

I've spent most of this morning trying to download and install a Gameboy emulator to play "Pokemon Crystal Clear". My effort however have been in vain, since I just can't get my head around loading the ROM with the application. Can anyone recommend super easy emulator a pre-novice such as myself can use without the urge to purge my steamdeck?

Maybe you should ask in the Reddit subs or community forums of those communities instead?

Emulating anything pre PS2 era pretty much starts and ends with RetroArch. There's a free version on Steam that'll get you started.

EmuDeck is an autimation system if you have some organised ROM files on an SD Card. It will download and setup the emulators for you (usually RetroArch with the relevant emulation cores).

Best jumping off point for most emulation needs is the Emulation Wiki.

I downloaded emudeck and added the ROM for Pokemon to the gameboy folder but it's not showing up in retroarch. TBH i find retroarch difficult to use.

No one here can tell you what you're missing. We litrally can't tell you where to find it.

Take the hint and ask in the forums of the emulator you're using. The Steam forums aren't the right place to discuss emulation in depth.

Use EmuDeck. It automates all this hard stuff for you. You just have to put the roms in the right folder (move or symlink).

I found Emudeck confusing. Are you supposed to play games from it or is it just for downloading the emulators? I managed to get it working with a GBA emulator. Thanks for the advice.

Emudeck is just a script to download, configure and update the emulators.
