Constant black screen after lates update
The latest system update destroyed my Steam Deck. As soon as the update was installed, the system never even rebooted like it what supposed to do. When I went to turn the system back on one minute later, the screen remained black. I tried holding down the power button for 12 seconds many times, and it did nothing. I tried pressing the power button while holding the right volume button, and it did nothing. I'm not able to use the recovery instructions because the screen remains black when I hold the volume button while pressing the power button. I hear the usual beep sound when I press the power button, but the screen still remains black.
I was always careful with this device. i always kept in in an open, well-ventilated area. I already submitted a ticket, requesting a replacement. I don't know what else to do. None of the troubleshooting tips helped at all.

If you did all the steps listed here - then wait for Support: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1b71-edf2-eb6d-2bb3

Note, if you haven’t already, add exactly all the troubleshooting steps you tried to the ticket - it’ll make things go faster once they answer.

I already stated that I am not able to follow the recovery instructions because my deck will not boot-up in order to allow me to do so.

It honestly shouldn't make a difference, but I have had luck several times with plugging in my Steam Deck when it is doing weird things, like not turning on. Even though it has plenty of charge.

When I plug it in and then hold down the Power button for about 10 seconds or so, when I then press the Power button again, my Deck usually starts up.

This has happened a few times.

I have no idea why plugging it in would make any difference.

I already tried booting it up and holding the power button while plugging it in. It did no good.

I noticed that the fans still run. In fact, They seem to keep running even after I hold the power button to turn the system off. It's like the thing can't tell when it's supposed to be on or off anymore.

Thanks for the pointer. I tried it out, but it still didn't help.

sadly seems latest update is borking alot of machines with or without also borking the dock (again), sadly i would look into trying to factory reset the machine if possible, dont know how but valve refused an instructions booklet with helpful button pressing sequences to force deck to do different things, either that or the sad submit help ticket

I already tried to do a factory reset. However, the my deck will not boot-up in order to allow me to do a reset. I'm so angry. I only owned this messy POS for two weeks, and something insanely pointlessly stupid like this happens.

It actualy worked for me, I don't know how long it took, but I just turned it on, pluged it in, and then went and did other stuff for a while, came back it was working, so I would suggest that you just leave it on and pluged in for a long while before sending it for repare

Thanks, but I still already tried that, and it didn't work. I don't want them to repair it. I just want them to replace it.

I'm in same situation except my screen is stuck on GNU GRUB version 2.06 screen

I have noticed after every update it takes quite a bit longer then usual to boot up, so I always just wait. In fact, any time I do a restart and it's taking longer to boot, I just wait because it has always ended up booting.

Sometimes patience is the key, sometimes stuff is broke. I hope you get your situation figured out.

Because if you keep rebooting it while it's doing some stuff, you run the increase risk of screwing it up.

I actually did let it sit for around five minutes after the system reboot began, but the screen just remained black the whole time. That's when I got concerned. So I held down the power button to reboot it, and the screen has remained black since then.
