Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Does anyone know WHAT headphones work with the deck?
I have JBL 500BT’s and if I use them via bluetooth I get insane audio delay and if I plug them in I only get audio out of the left channel (ear).

I use my Apple airpods, but I'm sure there are more affordable options that can work just as well if they are more than you'd like to pay.

I don’t think you read what I stated. I use these headphones on deck and nintendo switch. There is no latency with these headphones using bluetooth on switch and using 3.5mm causes audio to come out of only the left side.

Ugh, apologies. Was in a hurry. Seems like some wiser replies assisted. Cheers.

I use my Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, and my Enophones with bluetooth and haven't had any issues. Typically if only one channel for a wired headset is coming through, it's a damaged audio jack. Check the little black rings on it.

Use wired headphones...My bluetooth Bose earbuds have a terrible latency on the Steam Deck but not on my other devices.

Using Jabra Elite Sport via BT, but noticed terrible delays and lags while playing over the cloud.

Definitely interfering with my 5G WiFi, because when I'm using HP with 3.5 mm jack and all the delays and lags are gone.

About your one sided output, I have no idea. Never heard of this problem. All my headphone working stereo on the Steam deck.

Have you looked through your sound settings? There are deeper configs in desktop mode.

Bluetooth audio on Linux is notorious for having issues.

If your headphones offer a USB or jack connection as an alternative, use those. Else, you could consider getting a similar headphone with a 3.5 mm jack. Keep in mind the impedance and look for one with a replaceable, non-proprietary cable.

I personally use these sometimes with my Steam Deck. They work pretty great. Make sure you adjust the ear hooks so they are comfortable, you may also need to use a razor to shave off any lumps or imperfections on the soft surface of the hooks themselves. But they sound great, draw almost no power, and are very cheap (so if you break them, it's no big deal).

They really do sound pretty good once you get them adjusted (make sure to adjust the ear hooks!) and at 19 dollars they are a great price for what they offer. (inflation hit everything, but these are still great)

I haven't had problems with my LG Tone headphones. So there's another option if you want low profile, and don't need top of the line audio.
