You can then have all your games in one folder on the desktop itself so no finding loads of random pathways.
Honestly I have a decent collection of games through GOG and I like GOG galaxy but at this point I'd rather everything just work and update smoothly on my deck. Valves gambit has payed off and I basically only buy games from there now. The convenience is too good.
Currently I am trying out Syncthing, which took a bit to setup, such as locating the correct save folder, etc. It seems to work okay for the most part but it does not always understand which system has the newer save files and can generate conflicts (and you have to be careful resolving them as if you select the wrong one, you can lose progress). And if you have a game from somewhere like Epic Launcher, you have to ensure not to download from could when launching.
