Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Trouble connecting 8BitDo Pro 2 controller with Steam Deck.
I was able to connect it the first time I tried, and it worked well, but once I put the console to sleep (or off, I'm not sure) it was no longer connected.

That's not a big deal if it only happens once in a while, but to make matters more confusing it would no longer connect --- or even more strangely, the controller would have the green light on the bottom of it hold steady, as though it was connected, but nothing would happen. (Another strange thing happened once: the (STEAM) button on the Deck itself stopped working! It is fortunate this issue has not repeated again.)

I've since been able to connect the 8BitDo Pro 2 one more time, and I'm not sure how I did it, but putting the Deck into sleep or shutting it down dropped the connection.

I'm wondering if this is an issue on the Deck end or the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller end. If it's just the controller not being very compatible with the Deck, I can get another controller, although it's likelier to be a little more expensive.

dont have a 8bitdo controller, since they showed it being compat with deck, its less likely the controller unless it needs updating, controllers for deck r still a mess bt or wired and last update for stable fubared alot of things, if u can update (?) a controller threw pc try that for a fix, other wise until they fix or undo the update, it may not work, also if u trying threw official dock, seems video output is broken so that may also be causing problems

Okay. I will look for an update. Right now it looks like I have to actively end the connection between the controller and the Deck and begin it again for it to function.

EDIT: Can anyone recommend a controller that they know to work with the Deck consistently? I don't seem able to do anything with the 8BitDo.

This seems to be a fairly widespread issue with many of the 8bitdo controllers. I've heard this before for the pro 2, and my sn30 pro+ does the exact same thing.

If not already mentioned upgrading the controller to 3.00 version of its firmware seems to work wonders.

Mee too, I had 1.08v. Update using their program to 3.04v and working :)
