i need a usb-c extender adapter for the docking station
Hello dear ones,

I need a small USB-C extender adapter for my docking station. Why? Because my current Steam Case is preventing the docking station's 90 degree angled USB-C cable from connecting properly to the Steamdeck. I found a few products on Amazon, but I'm not sure what features to look for here. I also don't want my Steamdeck to be damaged by an incorrect adapter.

Can anyone recommend an adapter that they use themselves with the docking station or at least tell me what I should look for so that the Steamdeck receives all the information correctly from the docking station via the adapter (HDMI, DP, USB, etc.) and can process it?

I found one product on Amazon (Germany):

Thanks in advance!

Good to know. Do you also use it in combination with the docking station? And does the Steamdeck give a warning when using the adapter that only the original Valve components should be used or something like that?

Have it now also ordered and it should come tomorrow. Also for your price (£5.99) was it 2 pieces or just one? I can unfortunately only buy 2 pieces in a set for 10,99 €.

I ordered 2 of these and I really like them because they are bendy but not sure the shipping cost can be justified.

EDIT: oh and despite the big blue Add to Cart button I guess they are out of stock so nevermind lol

Your current 3rd party case for the Steam Deck is likely made out of plastic. You can always take a knife to the case and cut a slot for the usb cable. That's not a bad 'free' option.

Mark out the space that needs cutting with a pen or something, then take it off the steam deck, and cut out a slot for the cable.

I think that would be too expensive for me with transport to Germany in the end. But I like that it is flexible. Thanks for the tip.

I canceled my order at short notice and used a pair of scissors and a knife to work on the case. Surgeon I should not be, but it all works now :)

I had previously played with the idea and then decided rather for an adapter. But rather a slightly damaged case than damage to the hardware by an adapter. Even if the risk may not be so great, that is the safer option. Without your answer I would certainly not have reconsidered my decision. Thank you very much for that!

At the beginning I thought about sending the case back. But then I realized that other cases will also have this problem. There is a 2nd problem with my case. It is too thick to put it directly into the docking station. Since the space is just exactly enough for the Steamdeck, I probably won't find another case here either.

I have this case:

Since the case has its own support in the back, I can put the support in the docking station. It's not the nicest solution, but it's a compromise I have to make. I do not want to do without a case.

I bought the exact purple ones that you bought. I can confirm that they work great with the deck. No power loss, and no warning or messages from the deck itself. Ive used it between the main power supply and also my battery pack, no problems either way. Solidly built. You will be happy with them.

I have a silicone slip on case. I had to cut a little bit off of the case around the plug to make it fit in right. So just FYI.

I got one from amazon. It works perfectly for my killswitch case, and the steam deck still fits on the steam dock and connected to it aswell, no bending or stress on the cables either.
