SD Card Has Stopped working and won't Format
I've run into an issue with a san disk ultra 512gb sd card which has stopped being recognized by my steam deck. I have tried going into desktop mode, but I can't find it there. I then tried formatting the card from game mode, but I am getting the following error:

"We encountered an error while formatting your microsd card (2). Please try again or contact steam support."

Has anyone any ideas?

I tried it in my Windows machine which is recognizing that there is a SD card, but obviously it is not accessible as it was previously formatted for the deck.

I ran into a similar problem with a sandisk card. What I did is I got Paragon Partition Manager which actually said it existed and was able to completely reset the partitions by deleting them and adding a new one. My deck still won't see the card but it at least recovers it for use on a windows pc. My guess why this happens is some kind of bug that bricks your card because I have heard a few other people with this same problem. Hope this helps!

go to start (windows pc) type in disc management hit enter. find the SD at the bottom and right-click it & select delete volume. Then you'll want to create a new simple volume & format it to the ex-fat file system (It's what the deck reads). You may have to format the card again once you put it back in the deck, but the deck should see it now.

I have tried deleting the volume using the disk management tool. I get a message to say that the partition wasn't created by windows. When I click yes to go ahead and delete the partition, the cursor spins as though it is working, but then it changes back to a pointer and the volume remains.

I also tried deleting it via diskpart from the command line, but the sd card doesn't appear as a listed volume there.

Something else to try (if it's different that what you have already tried):
